There is a reason nobody runs these with even an ounce of regularity.....they don't work.
Navy and Georgia Tech beg to differ. The service academies runs it out of necessity because they don't have the same types of athletes as the rest of d1. They control the clock and limit possessions.
Exactly.Service academies w/o star athletes. Those are some real success stories. Navy has ran it forever. NIU is going to implement it in a week and be successful?

I think I would emphasize giving Galladay and Brescacin the chance to go up and make plays.Don't be afraid especially on 3rd and long, given the current punting situation.
The "air it out" model can be looked at a couple of ways: we can try to keep up in a track meet, or we turn the ball over on high risk plays (BG has 17 int's this year, 196 pts off TO's)....for comparison, we have 65 pts off TO's
I wouldn't throw 40 times,but let's not get predictable either.
I think something like a 14-27 for 250 and 2 td, 2 int gets it done. Let's not run on 3rd and long or under routes. Max protect, go long. Did it one series with Graham, was successful and next thing you know they put 7 in a box, rush 5-6 and Huff either lines up in wrong spot or expected to make impossible block on blitzer where he had to come all the way across backfield. If he was expected to do that, then that is a coaching issue. Bring in a te, blocking rb. But you have to protect qb. NIU has had some success long and will need to to open up running game. Spread field and not run short side 75% of the time.
