ND was going to be bumped by the B10 champ - count on it. Assuming Bama finished at 12-1 and conference champs and Clemson finishes 13-1 the issue would be between an 11-1 OU and an 11-1 Notre Dame. OU with a loss to Texas. ND with a lost to number one Clemson. OU with wins over Tennessee, Baylor, TCU, and Ok State. ND with wins over Stanford, Pitt, and Texas - the team that beat OU.

Would the committee have popped the B12 two years in a row? Who knows, but I suspect OU would get the nod to avoid a rematch.

...and #20 Temple, #21 Navy and #24 USC....

This is just fantasy land, but if the Irish had defeated the Cardinal....????

NOTRE DAME (11-1)
v. Top-10: 1-1
v. Top-11-25: 3-0
v. other bowl teams: 2-0
losses: only loss AT #1 Clemson, by 2 points

OKLAHOMA (11-1, Big 12 champion)
v. Top-10: N/A
v. Top-11-25: 3-0
v. other bowl teams: 4-0
losses: v. Texas (4-8) in Red River rivalry

Oklahoma would have the Big 12 championship to hang their hat on...while Notre Dame would have the win over common-opponent Texas - OU's only loss.

The manner that OU won the game would be of importance in this analysis, plus the fact that the committee had already put them ahead of ND. Would have been very odd for OU to win by 33 on the road in a de facto CCG and then get passed by ND.
