"Without getting into all the specifics, when opportunities come about, they contact our representatives, and our representatives contact me. I usually, for everything else, I just nipped it in the bud and wanted to make sure I did right by the University of Memphis. I had a really good job. And I was really happy there. I loved where I lived. I loved our kids. Our kids worked incredibly hard. They were fully invested in the program. So I didn't feel the need to do anything. I wasn't desperate to move."
I have no doubt that he likes the small-town aspect of Blacksburg since he's an Oklahoma guy, but that's not what made him leave.
He is from Tulsa which is not exactly a small town. This is about P5 resources and coaching at a place with a seat at the table.
True, but remind me how many national titles Beamer won?
Would you like to compare how many BCS bowl games he played in compared to Memphis, or any other school in the country for that matter?
VT is a better job than Memphis, but we talk like these schools are SO much better and it's annoying. Yes they are getting paid way more and have more resources. I'm talking about actual championships. I think Justin made a great business decision, but the probability of JF winning a championship at VT is still very low.
Last time I checked the school everyone supports here in Little Rock hasn't won a championship since the 60's, but that doesn't keep them from acting like SEC elitists. Not to mention I remember little ole Memphis State beating them couple times in the 90's. Soon thereafter, they quit playing us.
