So that makes it right? The Heisman is supposed to be the best player in college football... Not the best player on the best team....but that's what it is, and they describe it as that. "Because that's the way they always done it" doesn't make it right.
You cannot convince me that Nick Arbuckle is the best player in this league. I can name many players that are better. Rose, I have only seen a couple of times, so I'd have to defer to those who have a better grasp on him.
I was just pointing out originally that if we are going with a QB, Lamb had more TDs on about 60% the attempts that Arbuckle had, while also amassing 367 rushing yards to Arbuckle's -82. And believe it or not, he is so under the radar that even our own fans think we should take a look at our #2 and #3 QBs. He just never does anything that makes you jump out of your seat. But you look at his stats at the end of the game and think "wow, when did all of that happen?"
For the 5th time, I'm not trying to convince anyone of who is better, their teams record shouldnt be a determining factor. Not this year, not next year...not ever. It's an individual award for who had the best individual season and should be awarded as such. They should change it to MVP if they want to make best player on the best team. People immediately throw out Rose and Arbuckle because of their teams record. Suppose lamb had the exact same stats but he had a below average defense and horrible special teams, they lose a couple games because of KO return or blocked FG...or just bad defense. Why does that change what Lamb did to deserve an individual award?
My post you just responded to said nothing about record. It WAS about who is better. For the third time, Lamb had more TDs on 60% of the attempts, while rushing for 367 yards to Arbuckle's -82. If anything, Arbuckle's stats are helped by being on a crap team. They have to throw to stay in the game. I'm not throwing out Arbuckle because of his team's record, I'm throwing him out because he is not as good as the other candidates and his yardage stat (the only one where he is better than Lamb) was inflated by being on a bad team who could only move the ball through the air.
So Arbuckle is having a great season on a bad team and you dont think that should factor into the argument? Seems a better accomplishment than that having a great season on a great team.
Perhaps a lot of the improvement in the record was a result of the uab players.

Larry Rose III - 213 carries 1587 yards, 7.45 ypc, 12 TDs. 28 Receptions 282 yards 2 TDs
Matt Breida - 180 carries 1495 yards, 8.31 ypc, 16 TDs.
Nick Arbuckle - 273/235 (64.2%) 3814 yards, 23 TDs. 10 interceptions
Call me a homer, but I think Matt Breida should get it. He's in the top-10 nationally in total yards with at least 30 fewer carries than all of the other players and leads the country in ypc among running backs.
I predict Rose will get the award, though.
Breida is the most talented player but to get voters to understand he saw little of the 4th in 8 games and is splitting carries with a QB and two other really good backs is not going to happen. 213 touches for Breida and it is not even a debate. If we had any passing accuracy we probably would have more plays throwing to him as well. We tried a couple of times with little success. If he has a monster day against GaSt he may have a chance but if we get up big early they likely pull him.Arbuckle is probably the most important player on his team out of all three. They don't win anything without him.
If not Brieda than Arbuckle.

I'll take your word for it. I've seen GSU play twice and have yet to see him play.

No, but he's thrown more touchdowns to Appalachian State than to Georgia State

Let's see Lamb's national ranks in those categories.
And, then compare that to Rose's national ranks.

Those are Lamb's national ranks in those categories, on the right hand side
Rose is 8th in the nation in rushing, 9th in YPC, and 28th in TDs
Breida is 9th in the nation in rushing, 2nd in YPC, and 13th in TDs
I'll take Breida

I think I would have to take Breida, Arbuckle or Rose. Knighten and Lamb are at an advantage with playing with superior talent on the offensive side of the ball and a superior defense that puts them in good field position as well as keeping the pressure off with eliminating opposing team's offense.

What I gather from this statement:
Georgia Southern does not have superior talent
Georgia Southern does not have a superior defense

Yeah I don't really know why he'd group Breida in with those two.

Matt Breida is the best offensive player in this league.
Georgia Southern has comparable talent to the top of the Sun Belt. Nothing to see here...
