ULM Coaching Search
Any news? Got a list of candidates?

Heard you guys were talking to Todd Orlando. That would be a big get.

Maybe they should look down the road to Lake Charles -- Matt Viator seems like he is constantly putting together winning seasons at McNeese

This is being edited by the guys over at reddit /r/cfb

It looks like they have quite the few solid options. I doubt they can pay Orlando enough but we will see.

If Hudsbeth left I wouldn't mind having Matt Viator, or that guy from Jacksonville St.. If I was them that's exactly who they need to go after.

They really need a coach that has been a successful head coach, and stop messing around with these division I-A coaches that have been fired.

I am not saying this is what's going on this time around, but their last 3 hires were coaches who were getting paid buyout money from other schools to supplement their pay. ULM won't go out and pay a coach $600k plus $1.5 or son on assistant coaches. So a guy like Paul Rhodes who has been let go and is getting paid $350k a year from Iowa St and could add another $350k from ULM may be interested. It's honestly a smart plan, but they have to be able to win at a smaller program.

Viator would get my vote, in terms of on-field performance, affordability, and already strong recruiting ties (I assume) in Lousiana. Briles is intriguing, but with the kind of success and pedigree he already has, he would be quickly snatched up shortly after he delivered a turnaround.

I saw Rhett Lashlee being bandied about on Reddit. That would NOT be a good hire, IMO. Rhett is Gus's buddy and really nothing special. We saw that first hand.

I'd say a lot has changed in the SBC since Todd Berry was last hired.

It makes sense to think bigger here than in years past. Of course ULM is known for having a very small budget.

He is a candidate as well as y'all's current OC Lindsey.

Our last three coaches were not paid by their former schools. Todd Berry was fired at Army in 2003, we hired him in 2010. Charlie Weatherbie was still being paid by Navy when we hire him. We hired Bobby Keasler from McNeese St.

Hopson would be a VALUE hire and probably be the best coach ULM will get for their price tag.....the guy works hard and recruits hard.He has been a shot in the arm for Alcorn...

Here is the finalist for the ULM football coaching job. Looks like the Offensive Coordinator for Ark St. Is part of the final 2.
