“I couldn’t be more excited to receive the opportunity to coach at Iowa State,” Campbell said. “Two years ago after we played the Cyclones in Ames, I called my wife (Erica) and said you simply would not believe this place. Their fans, the game-day environment and facilities are all incredible. I could see us living in Ames and me coaching the Cyclones some day. My family and I are truly humbled.”

Probably the first time in the history of college football that those words have been spoken, but given his recent post game comments, I doubt he's being honest.

50-60K attendance every game for a team that bad? I'd say they have a loyal fan base.

RE: Campbell Quote
what an a$$ for saying that in a press conference. 2 years ago he was looking at other possibilities? Did he initiate the contact once Rhoades was fired through an agent? Seems likely. Somehow they knew about his interest in them. Probably also helped push up the firing of their coach.

That smacks of being quite the snake. You can't tell me he wasn't distracted for the WMU game knowing how close the deal was. Lose the game and he gets his $2M contract in a place he wanted to be. What was his party line about Toledo? or was their one? Betting it was along the lines of great place, thanks MOB for the opportunity, going to miss the players, loved it here and except fo this exceptional opportunity of a lifetime would still be in Toledo, blah, blah, blah...

Huh? LAST SEASON?? So much for the "process" and "doing it right here" and honesty and loyalty.

Thanks for keeping the UT program afloat, Campbell. You didn't get us a championship but you did get us 3 bowls. Much appreciated. I mean that. We could be a losing program now but then you wouldn't be going off to Iowa State. But you didn't have to make it so obvious that you wanted to leave here 2 years ago let alone right before our big game. Nice.

ISU was at 85.6% capacity of Jack Trice's 61,000 seats with a 2-10 record last season. The 9-4 Rockets packed 74.5% of the Glass Bowl's 26,244.

Not bad considering that a ranked Toledo team has trouble breaking 20,000. Probably another reason Campbell left. Life in the MAC----nobody realizes that "when you build a program, they are supposed to come"

I don't blame him. Like a lot of us on the board I've been to a game there as well and it. Was a great gameday experience. Much better than a number of big 10 schools.

Are they surrounded by pro teams and michigan and OSU lovers as well? This is life in the MAC. We want more but we probably need to keep our expectations in line.
