Tigers D made massive jump
Cut 28 yards per game off their average and jumped almost 20 spots to 78th. Holding someone to under 100 total yards in a game does that.

Why couldn't other teams shut them down then?

RE: Tigers D made massive jump
Horrible start for SMU, weather and SMU quitting probably played a role

Weather or quitting won't explain a 63.0 rout.

Memphis dominated, period point blank.

Agreed...We dominated...

But the turnovers, high passes and missed FG were weather related...And after a team jumps out 28-0 in the 1st Q and their opponent has nothing to play for the opponent tends to quit.

I mean, that's all true.

But zero points and fewer than a hundred yards of total offense does not simply happen often to teams averaging 30+ ppg.

They started noticeable improvement against USF. Navy was an exception but that offense is very unique. I am not sold on the DC as of today, but I could see him turning into a solid DC down the road with a few more years of experience.

They weren't coached proper assignments for the Navy game. OR we have some stubborn guys who refuse to learn.
But, I can tell you, it was busted assignment after busted assignment.
I was boiling.

They were also passive against Navy...The guy who was supposed to take the QB on the option was waiting for him to come to him...You have to attack the QB.

In defending the option, "the quarterback must go down. He must go down hard", every single play.

Last 3 were Houston , Temple and SMU. Notice improvement if you look closely.
