Exclamation Week 13 G5 Spotlight: It Takes 2 to Tango
The old saying is it takes 2 to tango.

A cougar on the prowl is vicious an looking for a fight. Tigers and Midshipman were torn to pieces by the cougar but a Huskie applied a bite (17-20) to its backside that kept the cougar ascending the rankings. Few have dared to tango with the mighty cougar from Houston Texas.

The owl is a masterful bird of prey. It can fly silently and see its prey in the snow grabbing them away from the night. It will defended its young against Huskies last week but defending itself against a bull proved to be too much.

The owls will be flying into Houston this week to determine who takes the American Championship and G5 autobid. The owls and the cougars are ready to tango for all the G5 marbles.

Jeff Sagarin G5 Top 10 for 11/29

29 Houston
30 Navy
38 Memphis
41 Temple
43 Toledo
44 Western Kentucky
45 Bowling Green
50 Boise State
52 South Florida
54 San Diego State

-The AAC has the Top 4 spots in the Sagarin ratings this week.

-South Florida finished 8-4. The same record as Boise State and almost the same Sagarin rating to go with.

-Toledo and WKU finish tied in the Sagarins when Toledo has played a much tougher schedule. It goes to show what an extra win can do which WKU has and Toledo does not have because of the dnp w/ Stoney Brook.

Sagarin schedules of autobid contenders:

Temple (85)
Houston (95)

-Houston has 1 less loss than Temple but Temple has played a stronger schedule through the regular season.

-Sagarin ratings have Houston playing at home to be favored by 6 or 7 points. If you compare how Temple played against Memphis and UConn to how Houston performed against those two opponents Temple certainly has a chance.

Contenders Check in for 11/22 (AP for Rankings):

American Athletic
Houston 11-1 (W 34-31 Louisville, W 34-0 Vanderbilt, W 35-34 #25 Memphis, W 52-31 #16 Navy, 12/5 #20 Temple)
Temple 10-2 (W 27-10 Penn State, L 24-20 #9 Notre Dame, 12/5 #17 Houston)

The contenders at this point for the autobid.

1) Houston 11-1 (W 34-31 Louisville, W 34-0 Vanderbilt, W 35-34 #25 Memphis, W 52-31 #16 Navy, 12/5 #20 Temple)
2) Temple 10-2 (W 27-10 Penn State, L 24-20 #9 Notre Dame, 12/5 #17 Houston)

-Houston if it can defeat Temple will have 2 P5 wins and wins over 3 ranked teams. This is a lot more impressive than last years 2 loss G5 representative who only had 2 P5 wins which to feast on. Boise of course benefited from losing earlier in the season than Marshall.

-Temple if they defeat Houston at 2 losses would have a better resume than anything Western Kentucky could put together.

Chances Alive: Houston, Navy
Dead: Anyone else.

Air Force shot their chances with a lost to New Mexico. Mountain of the MWC cannibalized each other.

When Temple won, that 100% knocked out Air Force. Air Force had an uphill battle regardless.

Yep, once Temple beat UCONN it was coming down to the winner of the AAC CCG. The AAC was leaps and bounds better than the rest of the G5 this season. No one else was close this year.

Oh without a doubt. But if you want a laugh, listen to some of them explain how they are no longer part of the G5. They call all the other conferences G4 and insist they are some sort of tweener conference entitled to rights exclusive to them. Some even throw around the P6 title. It's like they don't even know what an autobid is.
