You are correct, not official. But might as well be.
ESPN did say Fuente is weighing the offer but will accept eventually.

You might do an interview to please players, you Don't do a second interview just to please players, right jow Odom'a focus is most likely solely on becoming Mizzou coach.

You do a second interview to try to keep the guy from accepting another position until after you've exhausted everybody else you want to try to hire.

The guy has been employed there for a year. A second interview should almost be insulting to him.

Not with his resume. Missouri is a big job. A job someone like Mark Richt or his level would consider. The only reason, I believe, he is being considered over an established head coach is he is an alum and the current DC.

Missouri is s trainwreck right now. What coach with real HC credentials (meaning there will be other offers) would want a situation where the admin caves to student agitator demands without knowing the facts, where the FB players threaten a strike & the FB coach backs such action? And worse, if that isn't enough to have to then compete in the SEC?

I think that stuff is getting overblown. It's a good opportunity to take over a program in the weak SEC east. A lot of guys would jump at that.

Figured it would have been done by now.

All that has happened is an ESPN online reporter, Brett McMurphy I think I recall them saying, reported/posted/tweeted that a VT source told him that they were going to announce Fuente as HC early next week.

Possibilities:
A) That is correct and nothing has changed. It's not early next week yet, so no announcement has been made.

B) The source knew they had offered Fuente and jumped the gun, arrogantly assuming he would accept.

C) The source knew they had offered Fuente and knew there was mutual interest, perhaps even a statement that he would accept an offer as discussed, and now the actual offer is being reviewed. This seems likely since I don't think they would have actually extended a formal offer before the last game of the season was over.

You're right a lot of guys would jump at it but not the right guy, i.e., the guy that would make MO a consistent winner won't jump. Matt Campbell would have been a great choice (& IMO is the top candidate for any job) but he seems to be choosing lowly ISU instead. I'm guess he sees a trainwreck at MO too.

What? How do you know who would make them a consistent winner? Rhule would probably do a good job there.

It's official now per ESPN, and has been announced by VA Tech President and AD.

My understanding is he wasn't really in the running for the Missouri job.
