And they are still going to the Bahamas to play the 7th best MAC team. Congrats.

Yep, both WKU and MTSU were better teams THIS year. I'll tip my hat to both of them for besting my Herd, with no "buts" or excuses. There's no argument here.

I suspect all three will be back next year and go at it again. All three are returning quite a bit, and -- in point of fact -- without Daughty, the field will be a bit more level. Stockstill is looking great. Marshall returns a ton and Litton will be better in his second season. Should be a dog fight (and don't forget that it looks like FAU, ODU and FIU will be better, as well next year.) East is going to be a dog fight in 2016.

I'm alright with that. That bowl, especially since our President is from the Bahamas, was all the talk last season and MT missed out. I expect better next season. We can say, been there, done that, re: Bahamas.

And wkcc used that bowl as the beginning of propelling themselves to the Championship game and possible championship. Would be happy to follow that lead for next year.

you just don't want to win it like we did. if you're up big at halftime keep the foot on the gas. it was a great bowl for our kids. not so much for the fans. my sons and i all have passports but the flights out of nashville were ridonkulous. i even looked at atlanta flights and they were crazy too.

Yep, probably Ohio, the 7th place team that Marshall couldn't beat.

Congrats, but unless you're finishing 1st in the East and playing for a title it doesn't matter much. Marshall will be in the same bowl (Miami or St. Pete against the AAC) they would've been in whether they finished 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Just sort of how our bowls are in C-USA.

But again, congrats to WKU and MT. You beat us, no excuses.

That is who I am predicting you guys will play. Don't be fooled, Ohio is good. They are 8-4 and just beat NIU.

They are a lot like MTSU... Big O-line, solid running game, and stout defense. I think your programs mirror one another and would be a really good matchup.

Sounds like it'll be Western Michigan from what I gather.

Well, they're a really good team as well. Either one will be a good matchup.

Yep, we sucked this year. Injuries killed us but that's football. We need CUSA teams to win their bowl games.

If it's 7th, we are getting Akron or Ohio.

I'm hoping for Akron. They're not very good and the last time we played them left a bitter taste in my mouth.

They don't have a set order. GoDaddy will take their champ, then its San Diego (backup), Quick Lane (backup), Bahamas, and Boca Raton in the next tier if you look at destination/opponent. They also have Camellia and the Potato Bowl but those would be last on my list if I was a school/admin/conference official looking for the best matchup/destination.

NIU/BG to GoDaddy
NIU/BG to San Diego
Toledo/Ohio/WMU to Bahamas/QuickLane/Boca
Akron/CMU to Camellia/Potato

That's my gut shot. Of course it all depends on how they place these 5-7 teams. Of course some bowls will want Nebraska over a MAC team but how will contracts play into that? Who knows?

I think that just shows the strength of the East division.. We soundly beat Southern Miss and here they are playing in the conference title game..

One thing Marshall has got to fix is the consistency between home and away.. in the last three seasons Marshall is 19-1 at home (two seasons of undefeated play in Huntington) but just 9-7 on the road.

That is the problem with having a large home crowd. When you go on the road and you do not have that support, the Herd doesn't play as well. WKU plays better on the road than Marshall because we do not have that large drop off in support from home to away.
We purposely tell our fans to not attend home games so that we are used to playing without a lot of support for our team. Thus going from home to the road does not impact WKU as much. Lol

You are correct...we're not a great road team, and it seems that even when we do win on the road, we make it harder than it should be in some cases.

The issue is as old as our stay in C-USA. (Maybe longer than that, but I didn't go back before 2005.) Since we joined C-USA, we are 34-12 in conference games at home. Playing away, in conference, we are 16-27. Overall record: 50-39, although that is heavily influenced by the last couple of years.
