Guess the CFP top 17
1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. OU
4. Iowa
5. MSU
6. Stanford (highest ranked two loss team)
7. Ohio State
8. ND
9. FSU
10. UNC
11. Baylor
12. NW (which then helps Stanford jump Ohio State)
13. UF
14. Michigan (highest ranked 3-loss team)
15. Ole Miss (a reason Alabama jumps Clemson)
16. Oregon (also helps Stanford's ranking)
17. OkSt

Quite a bit of movement...but with the final body of work "in" for most teams, I think the committee gets a better feel for what each team really was during the season and can most accurately assess best wins/best losses/worst losses/etc.

Sets up Stanford to get a playoff spot over UNC if they both win their CCGs.

Clemson
Alabama
Oklahoma
Michigan State
Iowa
Ohio State
Stanford
Notre Dame
FSU

After that it really doesn't matter much, except I believe Ole Miss will be the highest ranked 3-loss team. What are Michigan's best wins? Shutouts of Northwestern and BYU at home and a road win over Penn State. Ole Miss has home wins over LSU and Texas A&M and road wins over Mississippi State and Alabama. Not even close.

RE: Guess the CFP top 17
Oklahoma, Mich St and Ohio St had impressive victories. I can't see ND being punished too much for a 2 pt loss on the road. Obviously Ok St, Florida, Mich will drop. NW is a delima. they beat Stanford but got blown out by Mich.

1. Oklahoma
2. Clemson
3. Bama
4. Mich St
5. Ohio St
6. Iowa
7. Stanford
8. ND
9. Florida St
10. UNC

13. Ok St
14. Oregon
15. Ole Miss
16. Mich
17. NW
18. USC

So explain why Bama would jump Clemson when Bama's best win is not on the list. Clemson would have beaten your #8 and #9.

Top 11 (although Rose and Sugar tie-ins could reduce that figure) and UH/Temple winner make the Big 6 bowls, so it does matter.

So I had 2 and 3 flipped. Ohio St. 2 spots too low. UNC two spots too low. Baylor and TCU flipped. Florida 5! spots too high, NW and Michigan flipped, Oregon and Okie St. flipped and Ole Miss out of the top 17. Not too bad. Ohio St and Florida/Ole Miss were the big surprises to me.
