Exclamation USM travel guide
Let this be a thread for questions and answers for any USM fans traveling to Bowling Green. Ask about food , hotels , extra entertainment or best routes and I'm sure you will get plenty of great responses. Everybody has they're favorite hotspots around here they we would love to share.

Freshly remodeled holiday Inn express is a place that I see many pick, but most all the hotels are very close to each other and right on top of some of the best food.

Double Dogs is popular place to eat and you even get some of your meals in a big dog bowl. http://www.doubledogs.biz/
Lost River Pizza company is another great place
http://lostriverpizza.com/
ShoGun Bistro is a great hibachi grill but kinda pricy
https://shogundining.com/

You will find all you normal places like BW3's Applebee's O'Charlies ect. On the main strip Scottsville road

USM travel guide
Closest hotel to the stadium is the new Hyatt Place WKU that was just finished 6 months ago or so. Very nice place, right on campus. 5 minute walk to the stadium.

Might want to reserve rooms right now though, because those will be gone VERY quick.

For the younger crowd, I would suggest Hilligans for food/booze. Adults, Mickie's on Main. Mickie's is a NOLA type place.

For a little more upscale dining, I suggest Mariah's. It's a bowling green favorite.

Other options for booze and food is the new WKU themed White Squirrel Brewery. Pricey, but the beer and food is best I've ever had.

Hope you all enjoy your trip!

I'm looking at staying in and driving up from Nashville the morning of. Any suggestions on how to tackle game day traffic/parking?

Also, any other town staples for good food/beer that are good for a college kid budget? Something along the lines of a Brew/Pub?

RE: USM travel guide
Driving in from Nashville would be my choice but give yourself a couple hours to do it. The drive will be a hour but Tenn's interstates once you get outside of Nashville is only two lanes. If there's a wreck you'll sit there for a long time.

Take the first exit into BG and go towards Owensboro if you are coming straight to the stadium. Keep going till you hit the Russellville rd exit (#7) and take it and follow it in till you get to the light then you can start finding parking.

In the below picture you will see X that's the stadium 3 is a little lot where a store is being built some people park there. It's not a Western lot. #1 will be the first Western lot and it's free #2 is also a free Western lot both are fairly large.

To get to lot 2 just follow the road you came in on and turn left towards the stadium and go past PS2 (permit parking garage) and PS1 (permit parking garage) and past the next light go around the curve and you'll hit lot #2

There's also a Western parking garage that's open to the public (pay..I don't know the cost) right down from lot 2 #4 in the picture

You shouldn't have any problem finding parking in lot 1 or 2 and I assume you will be getting here at least 45 minutes early and if so traffic shouldn't be a problem. If there's a large crowd for the game lines can get long once you reach lot 3. As I said lot 3 is not a Western lot but I do see people parking there.

Check out Hilligan's. It's a big college hangout. Corner of 13th and College

RE: USM travel guide
I highly suggest White Squirrel Brewery. Great food and excellent beers. Alow some time though, there can be a lengthy wait if you're heading in at a peak time.
Other local places that I would recommend (great eating in BG, please don't go to a chain) are: The Bistro, Mariah's, 6-4-3, Novo Dulce, The Brickyard, 440 Main, Double Dogs, Home Cafe, Kyoto, Lost River Pizza, and Smoky Pig. Lots of variety listed there in terms of food, atmosphere, location, and prices. If you need more info just ask.

If you're young and looking for nightlife head to Hilligans on 13th and College. Just a warning though, post game will be filled with WKU students, not sure how friendly they will be to USM fans. Other nightlife options are a short walk toward downtown from Hilligans to the square. Micki's on Main, The Brewing Company, Pop a Tops, Dublins, 6-4-3, Tidballs, and a few others are some of the local watering holes frequented by WKU students and others.
