Other than fans of SEC East teams, is the SEC East actually "over-rated"? I keep hearing the SEC East getting dissed.

Considering all the rankings The East had at the beginning of the season? Yes, the East was overrated this year. I would even say that the SEC as a whole was overrated this year but the West much less so than the East. In the West you have a dominant Alabama team and a very good Ole Miss team. You have an Arkansas team that found themselves late in the season but that doesn't make for a great team, that requires an entire season's body of work.

I wouldn't knock the West for that though, that is actually how things should work out. You want a clear hierarchy to form, all the cannibalization fear was realized by the PAC not the SEC. The SEC actually benefited from not being as good as advertised.

Yeah, but a lot of the hot air was taken out of that balloon back in September and October ... it didn't take until rivalry weekend for most people to wake up and realize that the pre-season hype for the SEC East was just hype, and they were still going to be mediocre this year.

For instance, look at the Week 8 AP rankings: four SEC West schools, one SEC East school, and that one only 13th.

Alabama is not as good as you think they are.

Yes Bama isn't great, but how is Florida going to score? Their starting offense just got shut out by Florida State. Bama will win that game with comfort in the 4th unless they play a really bad game and turn the ball over, but Florida is going to really struggle to move the ball.

Well, if it wasn't for the East last year, the SEC would have had a horrendous bowl record so we shall see how that goes this year. I don't think anyone thinks the East is strong now but the high rankings early on might still lead some folks to think that there is some strength there.

Of course, a C+ doesn't turn into an A just because its compared to a C- ... if mediocre plays mediocre in a number of bowls, winning a large number of those games does not necessarily demonstrate excellence ... although it does demonstrate that they don't totally suck.

Oklahoma's current position as well as Arkansas's late season resurgence certainly makes the Vol's resume look better than it was looking like earlier in the season. There could well be a number of possible bowl match-ups where I would favor them to finish 9-4 ... even if they are not yet back to expectations in Knoxville.

South Carolina is ass

Georgia is overrated and without their best player
Florida has a first year coach and is without their QB

Yeah, it doesn't really take a playoff-caliber team to beat that group. Georgia beat a Georgia Tech team that has had a lot of difficulty winning games and Florida lost to an FSU team that will likely finish in the top 10, but South Carolina and Kentucky are just bad.

The SEC West is one thing ... but for the SEC East, that run-down leaves a high ranking of the SEC East hanging on the Vols, Mizzou and Vandy.

Alabama still has some flaws like they did last year. SEC West was exposed in the bowls last year especially when TCU blew out their SEC west opponent.

When the SEC loses, there is always an excuse.

When the SEC wins, it is because they are the best.


Guess folks really buy that BS ESPN puts out there.


College football has been overly corrupted by $$$ and idiotic clowns like Paul F. that have low intellect viewers believing the BS they spew.

Did you expect anything less? The SEC is the greatest of all the & the ACC will always be the weakest no matter how many national titles are hung.

Did we forget about South Carolina beating UNC and Auburn beating Louisville? LSU also beat Cuse to put the SEC at 4-3 against the ACC this year.
