Oklahoma looks dominant. They are strong both offensively and defensively. TCU dominated in their last game but that was against an unranked Iowa State. Oklahoma dominated a top 15 team in Oklahoma State in a massive rivalry game AT Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma's win was much more impressive than TCU's. Plus...there is a brand difference between Oklahoma and TCU that is unfair but at the same time is undeniable.

Brand literally means nothing. That was tin-foil hat crap that XII fans used last year.

OU looked real dominant against Texas.

Yes and Ohio State looked real dominant against Virginia Tech last year. So what?

Oklahoma looks dominant now, that is what matters, just like how it did with Ohio State.

And .... you're a week early.

You don't know what the committee will do. No one here does. Pretending like you know some objective certainty doesn't make it so. Just wait a week before declaring victory.

How about you answer the question? We are in the second year, we know a lot more than we did last year. So, knowing what we know from last year's experience, how about you come up with an answer instead of just dancing around the subject? Come on, there is no wrong answer except no answer at all.

I think ND is going to the same bowl game at 10-2 as it would have at 11-1.

ND had a great season at 10-2 with all the injuries with the two losses on the road, both by two points.

That face mask penalty was the killer.

actually what was the killer was the replay. If they had reversed the touchdown, ND still scores but with less time on the clock. Changes everything.

No, the face mask penalty. If that doesn't happen, game over.

Ok, so it's impossible to know exactly what will happen. But it's gotta be 99% certain that OU is in. No matter how solidly Stanford might rout USC...they still have 2 losses on their resume. And neither are particularly amazing (10-2 NW, who got blowed out by Michigan, and 9-3 Oregon, who got blowed out at home by Utah). Last year, it was 11-1 TCU and 11-1 Baylor and 12-1 OSU that were dueling. It was a much more clear-cut case.

Even if Stanford pulls out a 58-0 beating of USC, I still can't imagine the committee puts them ahead of an also-surging Oklahoma. I just can't see it.

If they reverse the TD, the face mask penalty doesn't happen. Instead of Stanford getting 30 seconds, they get it maybe with 25 or even better fewer seconds.

Way To Go Sooners!!

I'll always be grateful for the support your school gave to the Cards trying to get them in the B-12......Even though it was ultimately unsuccessful.

But I always root for Oklahoma!

Even passing FSU this week is a stretch, even though there is no chance FSU can get into the playoff. But UNC will be in the top ten this week because of who lost.

North Carolina is not guaranteed a top ten spot. They didn't crush NC State.

They will pass Florida, Oklahoma State and Michigan. That is all that is guaranteed. That puts them at #11. Do they pass Baylor and Notre Dame? That is where the question lies. How that plays out will tell us exactly what the Committee thinks of UNC and how possible it will be for them to slip into the CFP with a win over Clemson. If they don't get put above Baylor and Notre Dame then it is very possible that a win over Clemson wont be labeled as a statement of UNC's strength but instead a statement about Clemson not being as strong as everyone thought due to how they looked against South Carolina.

Baylor? C'mon, they are falling out of that slot with that overall schedule. They will get another game to make up ground though, but they will be out of there for now. UNC is going to be 10 at the very least. And we've seen teams projected into the top 4 in the BCS era that climbed from the 9/10 hole with a big CCG performance.

This to me is akin to jumping the Big 12 after a 59-0 win last year. That's not going to happen for UNC, but if we see a 34-17 type performance, that might be enough to get them in over a team that did not win its division. Stanford in my eyes needed two blowout wins, so looks like they will be playing the Iowa/MSU loser or OSU in the Rose.

Tennessee = over rated SEC east side.

We know how bad SEC east is this year.

We'll see. They have a good chance but not guaranteed. They also don't play next week. May be a factor as others are playing, especially Texas/Baylor which could make that Texas loss even worse.

Have people lost their minds around here? There is absolutely ZERO chance that Oklahoma doesn't make the playoffs. They ABSOLUTELY punched their ticket last night.

I can't fathom how anyone can fail to understand this, unless they are so invested in the "The Committee Hates The Big 12 Because They Don't Have a Conference Championship Game" notion that they are blinded to reality.

That reality is that Oklahoma IS in the playoffs, and the Big 12 does NOT need to expand to make the playoffs. Good grief!

But guess what? TCU and Baylor didn't play anyone of significance on CCG weekend last year. This year, OU doesn't even play a game. They sit on their duffs, doing nothing, while other teams are out busting their butts.

Is the committee going to reward laziness?

Or is it going to put Clemson, Alabama, Michigan St (wins CCG in a close, hard-fought game) ... and .... Iowa at 12-1?

Just remember: no one could see it last year, either. Just like you can't see it now.

Can it really be the case that a team punches its ticket before the season has ended?

Is the committee really going to make it so easy, so that a team can just take the last week off, kick up their feet and go to the beach, while other teams are still out there working?

Not so sure about that.

Oh and by the way, who are Stanford's two losses?

- Northwestern, which finished 10-2 and only have losses to Iowa (undefeated) and Michigan (only lost to Utah, Mich St and Ohio St)
- Oregon, may have been undefeated if they played the whole season like they've been playing the last few weeks. Remember way back at the start of the season? They "should've" beat Mich St. Had the game literally won. The pass just went too long.

Yeah, two terrible losses. Yep, the committee definitely won't give them a single thought. Just shut off the entire west coast, this year. No one even watches football out there.

Imagine iowa and clemson lose the ccg.
that leaves: iowa, msu, clemson and unc plus bama at 12-1
Why would an 11-1 oaklahoma pass any of these. My guess is they wont and that the committee doesnt wish to support a system that doesnt have a ccg.

Yes, in this case, OK absolutely and unequivocally punched its ticket. 100%, bank on it.

As for kicking their feet up, would it make you or the committee feel better if Oklahoma scheduled Charleston Southern like Alabama did or Delaware like UNC did and played them this coming week instead of three weeks ago? That would be pretty silly, eh?

Like I told stever: there is no penalty for pronouncing the future on a message board as if you were given inscribed tablets from the almighty himself.

No one will care or remember that you were wrong, a month from now. So there's no incentive for you not to pretend like you know the future.

Obviously there is no combination of words I can possibly type that will induce you to reconsider. So I'm just going to leave it at: we'll see.

OU may be a conference champion, but they won't have won a CCG. (or even play a game next week)

Big difference.

Frankly, I'd rather reward a 12-1 team that kept working than an 11-1 team that went to the beach the last week of the season.
