RE: Playoff Game 2 - @Richmond
For the first time this season I am not confident about our chances of winning.

"Revenge" and all that is fine, but the reality is our defense has swooned terribly the past two games--
it was poor against UR where they shredded our line at will with their rushing attack and it was even worse against Duqesne where our pass defense was totally missing in action.

I disagree somewhat with those who believe UR will run, run, run against again. Unless we can control Richmond's two great receivers they will chew us up.

Hopefully our defensive schemes will change for Richmond.

I have had the opportunity to see the Tribe in person three times in the last month, JMU, Elon and Duquesne. The defense has been bad in all three games. I hadn't seen a Tribe game in person since 2010 prior to this past month, frankly this Tribe team looks a lot like the Tribe teams of old, as long as Jimmy goes for it on fourth down instead of kicking a field goal, we have a chance. Now that is the Tribe football I remember.

Score a TD every possession, and you have a chance to win.

Go Tribe!

RE: Playoff Game 2 - @Richmond
I can't make it Saturday. Somewhat by being discouraged by our first game, which I attended and more so by having made promises to the missus. I'd love nothing better than a repeat of the 2010 game vs. Richmond.

We need to control the line of scrimmage, which we did not the first time around. We need to protect Cluely and get a push for RB's and pressure their QB and stop their back closer to the LOS.

I'm sure that after 11 straight weeks of games our guys are beat up. Is there any word on any of the walking wounded making it back this week? I was glad to see Jared back last week. His being back give a great tandem of safeties on the field with depth that we didn't have the first time around.

I agree that in the JMU and Duquesne games in particular we looked like the Tribe of old.

I have to question anyone not going because of the first Richmond game performance.

If you would like to discuss this, I'll be glad to do so in person. I'm not getting into it here. You don't have to get my motivations, they are mine.

Fair enough - we can leave it at that. Not a major issue for me.

I sure hope that we do not get lost on the way up from Chesapeake. I think that I have taken the wrong turn off of the interstate EVERY time that I have tried to go to the Robins Center over the years. Sure would be nice to see some friendly faces when we get there.

Glenside Dr. off I-64. Glenside turns into Horsepen. Left onto Three Chopt Rd. Turn right on either Old Mill or Towana Rd. Bear right onto Campus Dr. and turn left onto Gateway Rd. Lot R-10 will be on the right after Robins School of Business. DO NOT TAKE BOATWRIGHT DR. INTO UR AS ONE-WAY ROADS WILL KEEP YOU FROM REACHING LOT R-10.

Game notes are up. No Reeves. No Velasquez. No Harvey. And Fisher is listed for the Spiders.

We really miss Reeves and Harvey's playmaking abilities. I was hoping they would come back for Richmond game. We really need to win the war in the trenches. I think this is the key for this game.

Jared played last Saturday, so I expect he'll play against UR. Also noticed Reeves was dressed out for Dusquene, so he may be close.

Rocco said they are as healthy as they have been in quite some time.

Thanks for the directions. I always love Three Chopt Rd. It always sounds like I am failing a sobriety test when I say it!!

Reeves was in on the hands team for the on-side kick.

Maybe we can get Reeves to cover one of their massive WRs?

Once again, it is too early in the week to really know who will be ready to go on Saturday, once the game begins then we will know who is and is not ready . Coach pretty much said this at QB Club meeting last night. This team has played eleven straight weeks and of course they are banged up and have to be a bit worn out.

Velasquez played the first series of the game this past Saturday but I did not see him back later in the game, but he could have been in for a play or two later an I just missed him.
