Bowl scenario/Possible bowls for Belt teams
We all know the deal at this point:

Ark. St., Ga. Southern and App. St. are bowl eligible

2 others have a shot:
Ga. State needs to beat Ga. Southern in Statesboro
South Alabama needs to beat App. St. in Mobile

If we assume we end up with just 3 bowl eligible teams which bowl do you think they go to?

RE: Bowl scenario/Possible bowls for Belt teams
If App and GS hold serve.

NO - Ark St.
Go Daddy - App
Camellia - GS
Cure 5-7 P5

App loses to USA

NO - Ark St.
Go Daddy - GS
Camellia - USA
Cure - App

GS loses to GA St.

NO - Ark St
Go Daddy - App
Camellia - GS
Cure - GA St.

Both lose

Same as if GS loses to GA St scenario.

I'd like to have more bowl eligible teams, but I don't want our bowl bound teams to lose.

We had Cure Bowl and GoDaddy Bowl reps in Statesboro today watching us dismantle South Alabama.

That's a first for the GoDaddy reps I think.

Unless I'm incorrect, we've had Cure Bowl reps at just about every home game dating back to App last year.

If Both Ga State and USA were to somehow win, USA would go Montgomery, GS to Orlando, and GSU to Arizona.

Random thought, does App playing at USA (site of the Go Daddy bowl) this weekend come into play at all when they decide who travels to Mobile on the 23rd?

It can, but I doubt it does. Go Daddy will take who they think travels the best.

I keep leaning on Georgia Southern going to Mobile and App to Montgomery ... just think that GoDaddy will believe that Southern will travel better and sell more tickets.

Considering the date of the game, you might be correct. Easier for fans from GA to get to Mobile 2 days before Christmas than from NC. If the date was the 19th, like the others, I doubt there would be much difference in number of fans.

Well between App and us, that would be us.

I do believe GS gets the Go Daddy based on the date and the proximity for Eagle fans.

RE: Bowl scenario/Possible bowls for Belt teams
I can't argue that GS won't travel better to Moblie than App. GS's fanbase is 5-7 hours from Moblie, with App's is 8-10 hours.

As we don't have any history of traveling to bowls this first one may be critical for future bowls should we be on the bubble and will always be further away from the bowl locations. Getting one on the 19th would likely mean many more fans could and would attend.

This is where I stand as well, I think Go daddy and Montgomery will work together to ensure both get the best matchup for them. They worked together last year.

RE: Bowl scenario/Possible bowls for Belt teams
Here is an interesting scenario:

It is generally considered Taboo for a bowl to extend an invitation to a team while they are on the campus of another Sun Belt School. It's happened before, but it is rare. The only way it can happen usually is if the host school is completely okay with the team receiving an invite while sitting in the visiting locker room

So here's the rub: Lets say Go Daddy wants App State. They have a very good relationship with USA and Mobile in general, but the Jags still could guarantee themselves a bowl with a win. Would USA be willing to give Go Daddy/Camelia/Wherever permission to invite App State immediately after the game to help the Mountaineers get ticket sales going, or will they make the bowls wait until the team plane takes off from the Mobile airport?

RE: Bowl scenario/Possible bowls for Belt teams
Question-we all know that cure is pretty high on Georgia southern but their last on the picking order-would their be anyway they haggle to camellia to get the Eagles? (Probably not but just curious) I just figured considering their will be some 5-7 teams bowling this year their couldn't be a situation where a 5-7 jags wound back up in Montgomery again or something along those lines

Jags would have to beat AppSt to get 6 wins. They are not one of the teams approved by the NCAA to play in a bowl with a 5-7 record.

I have to believe that is what is best for our fan base. It certainly is for me.
