5-7 teams going bowling
Does that mean the bowls we already have deals with have to take the 5-7 teams from CUSA or can those bowls take any teams they want?

The bowls have to take 5-7 teams according to their APR rank. A CUSA bowl can't take a 5-7 CUSA team to fill a slot that it couldn't fill with 6-6+ teams....I think.

RE: 5-7 teams going bowling
No, 5-7 teams are eligible in order based upon APR score nationally. Here's the known order of 5 win teams that would be picked. (Kansas State can get their 6th win next week, they are 5-6 currently).

Nebraska
Kansas State
Missouri
San Jose State
Minnesota
Illinois
Rice

Currently, there are 75 bowl eligible teams with only three more remaining that could get eligible next week (Kansas State, Georgia State, and South Alabama). Two 5-7 teams are now guaranteed to go bowlin, with up to three more. There's now apparently a debate about the order the bowls get to pick. If two of those three don't win next week, one of the leftover bowls will get Missouri, one would get Nebraska, and the other would get San Jose State.

At this point, Rice is going to just miss the cutoff.

I can't see Missouri in the Arizona bowl, for example. Much more likely that NO or Dallas pick them, and shuffle the reat of us back.

I hope it works out that we can get a decent bowl opponent.

RE: 5-7 teams going bowling
I guessing our bowl opponents will be...

Memphis in Miami Beach Bowl
USF in St. Pete Bowl
Arkansas State in New Orleans Bowl
Kansas State in Dallas (they might get eligible next week, but if not, then we'd need one of the 5-7's in this slot anyway).

The MAC opponent in Bahamas got a little more cloudy with Toledo's loss. I think GoDaddy will be a SunBelt vs. MAC Champions bowl, and the order for the rest probably based upon what makes sense after that is determined. I could see an Ohio or Akron in Bahamas.

Arkansas State in New Orleans should be official within the next couple days.
