What the CFP did for week 13
Conference commissioners should be patting themselves on the back this weekend. They've created a slate of "must-see" relevant games which would not have existed (to this extent) in the BCS system.
1. ND/Stanford. In BCS, ND would have a faint chance and Stanford with no chance. In CFP, ND has a great chance and since CCG champs are preferred, Stanford has a real shot too.
2. OSU/UM. In BCS, OSU would have a faint chance and Michigan with no chance. In CFP, OSU and UM had an outside chance (pre-MSU's victory) since they could have played their way into the Big Ten title game.
3. Alabama/Auburn. This game had equal importance in both systems.
4. Clemson/USCe. This game had equal importance in both systems.
5. MSU/PSU. In BCS, MSU had a solid chance. In CFP, MSU has a great chance of getting in.
6. UF/FSU. IN BCS, no chance for either team. In CFP, UF still has outside chance with win and SEC CCG win.
7. OU/OKSt. This game had equal importance in both systems.
8. Baylor/TCU. This game has more meaning with the CFP, as Baylor had a better shot of cracking the top 4 than a top 2.
9. UNC/NCSt. No importance in the BCS. Some chance in the CFP, as UNC now plays against Clemson for an outside shot.
10. Iowa/Neb. Probably equal importance in both systems.
By my count, that's 6 of 10 games which grew in meaning this weekend due to the CFP. For die hard fans, like most of us, this is a smorgasbord. For casual fans, this is at least more appealing than before.
