IIRC, Don hadn't been attending classes for a long time, so in his mind he was already gone and would not have been eligible anyway. His family was also seriously poor.

As a lad that year, I ran into Don and John Jacobs walking into the Shoe. I asked for Wingfields's autograph, and he obliged. I then had to ask for Jacobs as well, because he was clearly upset I hadn't asked. It did not seem wise to anger him. He was huge.

Gary plays more like a hybrid of JJ, Art Long, and un-hurt Eugene Land. Great fast break shot blocking like JJ, rebounds like Art (he was usually good for ten boards) back to the basket game like Land. Gary has the best temperament of any of them though. Ellis could learn a thing or two from how Clark walks away from provocation.

I prefer Ellis be an enforcer type. I don't want him to go full Ron Artest at the Palace and start beating up opposing fans, but I don't want a timid beta Ellis, who just takes it from others.

I'm not advocating for him to be passive. Just to not take the bait like he did last year (so far so good). His Techs and Flagrants were not down to his being an enforcer, either - that's not his role, unless you equate blocked shots and dunks as enforcing. If enforcing is anyone's job on this team, it's Deberry's or Clark's. Make opponents pay for wandering into the lane, box out, and rebound. Ellis is more of a finesse player, it's just who he is. More like David West than Cauley-Stein.

I was just complimenting Clark on his ability to keep his head. During the game yesterday, an opponent was jawing at him after a hard play and Clark just walked away. Didn't stop him out muscling everyone for big rebounds down the stretch, and swatting some poor fool's breakaway layup through the backboard.

As well as attitude. I see what you're saying though. When we played Kentucky last year, I felt he did a pretty good job getting into Lyle's head. Against George Washington, he shut down Larson pretty well. I feel like he and Caupain kind of need to play with an edge though, no one else is really as special as they are on this team. I think Jenifer and Evans have a great potential, but until it's realized, they can't be counted on. We have a lot of players, who do multiple things well, but the two seniors are of great importance. They'll put us over the top.

Just to clarify, Caupain is a junior. Ellis, Thomas, Cobb, and DeBerry are all seniors.

I know that, yet I misspoke anyway, oh well. Point still remains.

Fortson could have been one of Cincys best NBA players but I believe the refs forced him out of the league. Sure he had an attitude, but the refs wouldn't let him play. As soon as he got in the game they'd call a foul on him nearly every play and then T him up if he looked at them funny. Don't know what he did to them, but I always felt they were corrupt regarding Fortson

That's what I said. Still, it was corrupt the way the refs dealt with him.
