LOL! No they can't. [/quote]
I certainly would not expect it on any given day, but just like Rice jumps up and beats Texas periodically, some of those Texas high school teams have enough talent to beat the lower level Big Least teams if all the breaks went right. You would be amazed at the talent levels on some of the larger teams - the team I was on as a junior in high school had 21 kids sign with D1A schools. The only starter that didn't had offers but opted for the Montreal Expos farm system. We had NO depth, but we had quality starters. For that matter, our OL average was taller and heavier than half the NFL teams that year! Add to that those kids have been playing together in the same system for four years of little league, two in junior high, and 3 of high school and suddenly you have a team that has good talent and has been doing the same thing for NINE years. That makes it easy to just react instead of thinking, which is a good thing in most games.

Yes, it was a very unusual year, but ...

UConn a creation of 1980's ESPN? Why, because we win everything? Tulane is the 1930's, then! And Rice played no fair to an unexpecting Stanford team if you can remember (setting a blowout record in the CWS)! So don't talk like that missy!

OK this thread is over.

So you are happy that your conference is not going to be getting as big a bowl paycheck half the time because the team that the bowl really wanted gets the bowls?

Ok. :nutcase:

The BE won't split. The $$$ would go down to CUSA football numbers and the basketball $$$ would go down as well. This is one case where the sum of the parts is worth a whole lot more than the parts. The basketball $$$ are what drives this conference, not football. Louisville, UConn, Syracuse, Villanova, Georgetown, Marquette each have basketball national championships. Cincy, St. Johns, Seton Hall, DePaul, Notre Dame, Pitt, WVa. are all competitive in hoops. Add in the fact that Chicago market is a huge TV market. Notre Dame and DePaul are big draws in Chicago. You split, you lose that market. DC and Philly are big TV markets, you split you lose any entre' to those markets. The only fracture that I see is if the teams start getting shorted on "dance" invites in March. Sorry, but greed drives the bus and greed will keep these schools together.

 I don't think you have to worry about a Big East invite any time soon Rice boy.  I am sure the Big East is crushed knowing that Rice would NEVER consider joining the Big East. It's called the Big East, not the West Texas high school football league.
No offense buddy...but better Rice than Cincin.
