Umbrella Policy
Any change in the umbrella policy (i.e., no umbrellas) from earlier in the year?

RE: Umbrella Policy
According to the gameday information email...no. "We encourage you to bring a poncho and we will also have them for sale inside the stadium."

RE: Umbrella Policy
The policy on umbrellas seems clear. Weapons and pets, less so.

Quote:Prohibited Items

Umbrellas
No weapons of any kind
No pets (Exception: service animals)
Tobacco Products
Food and Beverages (Exception: 1 liter unopened bottle of water)
Unauthorized banners, signs or flags
Artificial noisemakers
Oversized bags, briefcases, coolers, etc.
Recording Devices (professional cameras, tripods, etc.)
Laser Pointers

I think we should have a general admission umbrella jail section, where folks can spread out with their umbrellas.

Open question whether that should intersect in any way with beer jail

So guard dogs should be ok as they might be considered service animals, and could also be considered natural (rather than artificial) noisemakers.

RE: Umbrella Policy
Depending on how you read it, you could argue that service animals are the only type of prohibited pet. Any type of weapon is fine, so you should classify your guard dog as a weapon, not a service animal.

Not sure why this aggravates me so much. Whether it's because they've changed something that was OK For 60+ years, or whether it's just so tone deaf given that there's plenty of opportunity to use an umbrella in this situation without bothering anyone else. Unnecessarily restrictive.

We discussed this at length at the fan experience committee. The decision from the athletic department was to manage the umbrellas at the gate and not on a case by case basis. We suggested signs in the parking lot and a place to store the umbrellas to help manage expectations.

Lots of things that passed for acceptable for 60+ years have changed. For the most part, its for the best.

Umbrella Policy
Here's what I like, in general.

We are putting policies and infrastructure in place that will serve us well WHEN we get to the point of full crowds at HRS.

WHEN we get there we will be better equipped to handle the crowd from a customer service standpoint and we'll be able to maintain that base.

IN THE MEANTIME. Yes there should be a compromise or transitional solution that allows for a year or two of getting used to the new policy and a allowing a workaround.

I like where I think this is headed. It may be uncomfortable to some extent for ALL involved to get there.
