RE: Game Day: Madonna
I really want to see Thompson, a dominant player, and Lee, also a dominant offensive player, in the game together.

That will be the real test.

Nothing we see now is a true test of what is to come...

Wonder if we'll see Bond, Lee, Price, Nazione and Thompson together? :)

That really is a shocker! Ball State has some decent wins on the season.

Per Mascharka, Raven will come off the bench on Monday. I'm assuming it's just for that game.

He also said Lee will play "starter minutes" despite coming off the bench, but we all knew that would be the case.

I think it is the MAC's marquee win so far this season. I can't think of a big win.

What I see happening: Somewhere around mid-first half, Bond moves to PG, Price comes in a SF, and Lee comes in at SG. With Thompson at center this lineup has potential to run and score.

I really think you underrate Toney, Steve. He's been our best non-Thompson player so far this year. Both scoring and running the offense. You know I'm with you on Bond as a ball handler, but hopefully in limited minutes, because I like the ball being in Toney's hands.

You're right.

BTW, now that we've seen part of the season I believe LWH absence might be the difference from a good season and a very good one...

What I see in depth and rotations:

1). Price (showing his ability this year) goes in for Bond who then moves to PG to give Toney a rest.

2). Mangum goes in for Lee.

3). LWH goes in for Nazione and then for Thompson.

4). Nobles supplies minutes at both '4' and '3' as needed.

5). EA supplies additional minutes at PG.

That is a 10-man rotation and covers all positions well...

RE: Game Day: Madonna
The outside shooting against Madonna was not impressive and has been a problem all season long, giving up the amount of turnovers against Madonna also not impressive especially Mangum with 7. For all of Price's rep as an outside shooter so far its 40% and 28% for 3 point goals.

I hope when Toney returns he is the Toney I saw the second half of Ball State driving down the lane and taking it to the hoop.

True, but still Mr. Raven Lee has yet to make his first appearance.

Lee is the shooter on this and any EMU team. Last year he shot 36% behind the arc. That is a very solid number.

I still say making statements like 'our outside shooting isn't good' is premature as Lee is the team's high percentage, off the bounce shooter. It isn't Mangum. It isn't Bond. It isn't Toney.

Maybe it will be Thompson with his 12 - 15 foot shot. 03-cloud9

Based on games played so far this season Steve, not future tense, by the way they could improve their FT shooting as well based on the games played this season. Well I agree its not Bond who based on recent games is averaging 6-7 points per game. Mangum never met a shot he didn't like, I'm afraid he try a shot from the locker room if he thought he could make it. And congrats on Bond playing PG after how many games at SF, we'll see how that shakes out when Toney and Lee return, my bet is Bond is back at SF. In short this team is still on the shakedown cruise and needs to improve in some basic areas prior to conference play.

Even with Lee shooting is this teams Achilles heel. Shot selection is a big part of that. Magnum jacking up 3s with a lot of time on the shot clock is not wise. Price seems to be making better decisions though.

This team needs to focus on getting the ball into the paint.

Only a busy bar has more shots than Mangum.

It remains to be seen how the chemistry and shot selection will change with Mr. Raven Lee in the lineup.

I assume Mangum will no long put up every shot.

Excellent article on the chemistry question on Eagle Totem's coverage of the Madonna game. Since we have alot of new players every year the chemistry issue is an important one.
