Unbelievable - they definitely have a case of the "big-head" down there. I will laugh if their next coach is a flop.

I bet the first thing he does is move, buy all new clothes and has his furniture and other belongings cleaned to remove the corn dog smell

yea, its official. LSU has gone "full stupid." I'll retract my statement if they announce they have hired Chip Kelley on Monday, but as of now, they are pure unadulterated stupid.

I don't know what other offers will be there for Miles, but I sure hope that Memphis goes for him if Fuente leaves. (By all indications he will.). I think if it could be pulled off for the same amount that was reportedly offered Fuente to stay it would be a home run. The biggest concern right now would be another coach not having the name to entice current recruits to stay and keep the national media talking about the Tigers. Miles would definitely keep Memphis in the spotlight and be able to hang on and add to a good recruiting class on his name alone.

Les Miles is an awful coach and would fail here. His power run game won't work here because he won't get the same recruits he got at LSU. For a coach to be successful at Memphis, you need offensive pioneer. Les is the exact opposite and is too stubborn to give an OC full control over the offense

I hear you bathtub, but when Miles was at OK State he threw the ball considerably more. I bet he would open things up more at Memphis. Having said that I would question how much fire he would have for this job. We need someone with a lot of energy, swagger, and ambition.

In 2013, Miles had Zach Mettenberger, Odell Beckham Jr., and Jarvis Landry starting on offense. They were ranked 3rd in the nation in pass efficiency, but only 104th in pass attempts. It was ultimately the 6th or 7th ranked offense in the SEC. Middle of the pack.

If he wasn't willing to pass the ball more with that kind of talent, he never will.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you. Just a fact that he threw it more when he was at OK State when he didn't have the athletes on D that he does at LSU.

How many NFL draft picks were on the defensive side of the ball when Mettenberger was the QB? I also thought Mettenberger had some injury issues at LSU but I don't remember specifics to be honest.

Interesting that Miles was an offensive coach at Michigan before becoming head coach at OSU.

RE: ESPN reporting that Les Miles will coach his last game at LSU Sat.
His offensive philosophy changed after the 2008 season when he was forced to start a freshman QB who became a pick 6 machine. He was more aggressive and had better QB's before then. The D and special teams were elite so the offensive ineptitude resulted in 9-10 win seasons instead of 5-7. Now those units have fallen off along with the offense. Maybe it's time for a change of scenery for both sides.

Ok, lemme get THIS right! We're losing current coach due to lack of facilities; lack of revenues; lack of prestige and lack of commitment.lack of ability to play for NC ......But Oh,by-the-way let's offer the guy that just left one of THE MOST prestigious; lucrative; more prominent Universities in ALL the land....That was very recently in position to as a TOP contender for THE NC!

Y on earth would Les coach here, If Fuente no longer does??????

That'$ totally NOT the point! He would be drastically OVERPAID & overwhelmingly disinterested, with a dash of UNMOTIVATED to go along with ALL of the other symptoms of having an extra $15-20 grrrrrr lying around

I don't know Coach Miles personally, so I have no idea how motivated or unmotivated he would be. I know that coaches love to coach...and most of them love a challenge. But, again, I don't know him personally so...

Remarkably stupid on LSU's part to fire him. Who the heck are they going to get? His record is like 110-32

Yeah, LSU better hit a home run. 15 million in Les' pocket and then another 4 mil per (at least) to the new coach, that's a lot of cheese.

They didn't fire les before they had someone already in place. I would imagine they have some sort of agreement in principle with Jimbo.

If Jimbo leaves, it's a mistake. Better gig at FSU ... perfect recruiting area and less competition in the ACC.
