Well, as one of the better MAC programs I just think the fan base expects to see a special team emerge every now and then. 2004 was a long time ago. If the players cant get up for the month of November when the games matter, I guess they shouldn't expect the same from the fans either. Besides we have to pay to travel to the bowl game, they don't.

To me this was the BIGGEST waste of a Rocket football season I have ever had to watch.

Absolutely the most talented team I can remember. Truly believe that if we played as we were capable we could have played with anyone. Too bad those moments were few and far between. This hurts so much more than the NIU loss. Never saw a team with more on the line play with less emotion.

How about?
1981 UT 0 BGSU 38(MAC Champ loses to a 5-5-1 Falcon team).
1996 UT 6 Indiana 40 Wasean
2000 UT 14 WMU 21
2005 UT 17 CMU 21
2005 UT 17 NIU 35
2006 UT 13 EMU 17(EMU's only win)
2009 UT 24 Miami U 31(Miami's only win)

none of those losses had as much riding on them as the game yesterday. Losing Tait in 1996 was a different kind of loss - should not have even brought that one up. The loss to WMU did have championship implications, but it was early in the season and Bolden could not run the ball because of a groin injury. That changed the entire complexion of the game (BTW - it was on Sept. 23rd and if we had played that same team at the end of the season, they would have been beaten worse than we beat Marshall) That was a good WMU team, but they got us on their field when our dual option QB was hurt.

Worse loss I can remember us having was in the 2002 MACC in Huntington. Total BS calls in the game and 3rd time we had to play Marshall on their own field for a MACC. They never beat us on our field, we did get a win against them on their field. That's how much home field advantage meant in 2 of the 3 games we played down there.

2002 MACC is a game I do not hold against Toledo. The Marshall embellishment with their OL carrying Leftwich to the line on every play, you can tell there was no way the MAC was going to ruin that story, on top of all the BS that placed the game in Huntington to begin with.

2009 @ Miami was my only trip to Redskin Stadium to date, and I was ashamed to have wasted my Halloween on that, but all it really cost was a .500 season, and our program was clearly on the upswing in spite of that.

2006 EMU represented rock bottom, IMO. But winning that game would have simply meant rock bottom would have taken place one week earlier when we were blown out at Kent State in that infamously crooked game. Although every time I'm watching football and a coach makes the foolish decision of going for 2 to extend a 4 point lead to a 6 point lead, I think of 2006 @ EMU.

I admittedly didn't remember anything about 2005 other than the GMAC bowl and the BG game which were both extreme positives. Looks remarkably similar to the 2015 conference season, although a rout at Fresno had already eliminated a "dream season". It totally stung watching us get handled at CMU by a QB they plucked right out of our own backyard, and allowing NIU to get off the schneide against us.

I guess 2000 WMU happened early enough that I just figured we'd get over it. But nobody in this sorry conference stepped up and did anything except CMU of all teams, who was awful that year. The 1990 loss to CMU is pretty comparable to this one.

The Result of the IU game was completely irrelevant other than that it ended a nice 12 game unbeaten streak, but I don't think anyone in town felt that we'd lose that game at all.

I was under 6 months old for the 81 BG game so I'll take your word on that one but we did win a championship that year, and also what the hell kind of conference has some teams playing 9 conference games and others 8? That sounds like something they'd do in the 1800's.

It is my opinion that Hunt will be entering the NFL draft I had this opinion since last year as someone mentioned earlier the shelf life of an NFL running back is short so he will come out. He is a lock ot be drafted barring major injury.

I got the impression that Beckman sudden exit was one reason Eric Page decided to come out early. I seem to recall a tweet where Page had some scalding comments contrasting Beckman's sudden departure with all of his platitudes about team unity and team togetherness and the hypocrisy was just too much for Page.

Likewise when Pinkel let for Missouri Chester Taylor (who had already graduated) had some second thoughts about coming back for his 5th year of eligibility but when Amstutz was hired he decided to stay for last year.

If Hunt had had a year like he did last year, he would be in a lot better position to come out early than he does given this year's problems with the suspension and injuries (and a less effective OL). For his sake as much as for UT's sake I hope he comes back for his senior year.

No question that Taylor raised his stock by coming back for his 4th year of playing. He was still drafted rather late, but he probably would have gone lower if at all after his junior year (eligibility wise).

Hunt will be competing with a lot of other RB's that will be coming out. I doubt he gets drafted before 6th round. This season is not something that showed a lot in terms of speed or ability to avoid injuries. He is not getting those tough yards in the NFL - and he is not going to outrun most of the linebackers in the league. I have a feeling his 40 time will be very high 4's - say around 4.8 or 4.7. Looks to be quite a bit slower than Taylor was - and he was at 4.6

Hunt circa November 2015 doesn't look like an NFL back to me. He's too slow, he can't accelerate through the hole. He's injury prone. I don't think he would get drafted.
