Schools with the most BCS bowl appearances
The BCS lasted approximately 25 years (1998-2013). These schools had the most BCS bowl appearances.

1. Ohio State (10)
2. Oklahoma (9)
3. Florida State (8)
4/5. tie-USC and Florida (7)
6/7. tie-Alabama and Virginia Tech (6)

Pretty heady company. These seven schools have more BCS appearances than the likes of LSU, Oregon, Michigan, Stanford, Miami, Wisconsin, Texas, Notre Dame, Auburn, Georgia, Penn State, Michigan State, etc.

If you've misplaced 10 years of your life to "approximately" then good for you... I bet it was the 60's, I hear it was a good time. 04-rock04-rock04-rock

We'll see what happens at VA Tech, but I doubt Mike Vick Jr. is walking through that door anytime soon.

RE: Schools with the most BCS bowl appearances
VT was in good position to take advantage of down years for FSU, Miami and Clemson. Miami has been down for a while...

Credit VT for stepping into that...and they likely have the ability to do it again. The last three to four years saw Beamer really slip...partially FSU getting back on its game, partially him getting on. A younger energetic coach may be able to get those ten win seasons back. If not, tenure will be short.

...which also underscores how hard it is for schools (even with the track record of VPI) to go out and get brand names for head coaches.

Tech has the 10th most wins in NCAAf in the past 10 years and their replacement isn't a guy from another P5 school, it's a dude who has two winning seasons as a head coach.

Just a point to ponder when we dissect the coaching record of the guy who replaces the Fu.

Are you telling me its been only about 17 years since UT won the championship? Sure seems longer than that?

I stand corrected. VT is so awesome. They have the next Michael Vick and there won't be a 27 y/o FSU QB to destroy him in the title game this time around. A championship is imminent.
