He had lots of company on that one including 90% of this board.

And the way Lynch played that season he was right. Just because Lynch developed doesn't mean it was the right decision at that TIME

Smh at all the hindsight on here

My issue wasn't Lynch starting.. but Karam not getting any reps period, especially after what he'd done for the program. There were even times he probably could have gotten some reps and even helped. Lynch obviously had the upside and was the better talent and deserved to be named the starter, I don't think most people had a serious issue with that.

Vernon had an opinion. An opinion most on this board agreed with. Doesn't have anything to do with questioning his sources.

Most of the board did not agree. There were a few dolts that followed Vernon's windmill tilting campaign to start the lesser qb .

The ironic thing is that Vernon actually ended up costing Karam snaps because he got enough publicity to make it an issue and the cosch felt like he could not bow to pressure of the few so early in his tenure.

The way this is beginning to look and sound is it's back to mediocrity for Tiger football. Hate that this is happening when we were on the turnaround and had a competitive team. Unless they can find someone with local ties who really wants this job and plans to stay, this will continue. I'm a football fan before basketball, and want it to succeed more than ever.

We just have to make consistent good hires. Unfortunately Memphis is just a stepping stone job til we can make a p5 conference if that ever happens.

Called around and cant find anything at all about Bill Clark. Doesn't know where that is coming from.

The school knew 'weeks ago' that Fuente was taking the VT job, and thought they had Odom wrapped up until Pinkel stepped down. Would be perfect due to recruiting, players loving him, and fit. School thought it would be easy and wrapped up quickly until the Pinkel stuff. Now they are worried Mizzou will hire Odom.

If Odom does take the Mizzou job, they are going to hire the same firm they used for Fuente, who gave us McElwain and Fuente as the two finalists.

I don't get the interest in Clark. Period.

you take a UAB TEAM that tanked the season befpre....and WIN 6 GAMES...and you don't get why anyone would be interested?
Its UAB dude! Win 6 games at UAB...and they'll extend you automatically.
That said...Clark is too invested in keeping UAB football alive. We won't get him.

I’ve got to go with Rocko on this one. We need a coach who is interested in staying here and building his own tradition.

Starting over with a new coach & staff every few years isn’t the way to maintain a successful program in any sport.

Agreed! Lots on this board questioned the wisdom of benching the returning starter who performed well the previous season.

Disagree on this one...he wants the Memphis teams to do well, and does not pander to the $EC crowd around town.

Funny, when he began questioning CJP, many here called him out. Now, those same people agree with him...

Verno talks up the Tigers all the time. Some of you just drink the blue Kool aid too much, and don't like when anyone says anything bad about the program.
