He may be awesome but Fuente having been OC under Patterson at a real program learning from a master was a better hire even 4 years ago.

Jacksonville state. I hope we don't hire a high school coach from prattville

Fuente went 4-8 first season 3-9 second season. The FCS school was Jacksonville State University.

Odom as HC, Clark as OC. Odom leaves after a few, Clark gets the head job.

Not totally unprecedented. Garrick McGee left as UABs HC to be Petrino's OC at Louisville.

How does it make the university look bad? Surely you wouldn't expect them to hold a presser and say we're losing our coach at the end of the year. Or surely you wouldn't expect them NOT to make a big counter-offer. Media likes to use terms like complete transparency for these deals. But let's be grown-ups and realize it just doesn't work that way. What am I missing?

Why would you guys want to go back to a defensive minded guy? Don't you like scoring points?

I think most would be fine if Odom hired an up and coming OC and didn't meddle.

I can go either way- fine with Odom or fine with an OC at a P5.

So former defensive coordinators turn-coaches dont hire top offensive coordinators? They don't like to score? They just want to grind out wins and hope the defense just stops the other team? Please!

Both of these choices would be a death march back to mediocrity, imo.

Babers (not likely because he'll get better offers), Fleck from Western Michigan, Briles (may be my first choice), Brohm from Western Ky (he'll get big time offers too), and possibly Skip Holtz would be all great choices.

No thanks to defensive coaches.

And I'd rather have Kiffen than Odom or Clark, and it's not even close.

Barry Odom was Always the Top Target to Be General Justin Fuente Replacement, but things have happened with Mizzou and they might have to take Odom with all that mess going on....Thus Interest in Bill Clark getting more intense....Now Bill Clark would be a Home run hire just as Barry Odom would be and it would be like when it came down to McElwain and Fuente last go around...Far as Bill Clark the Coach, well He can Recruit big time if given a bigger stage and has won everywhere he's went....He has Greg Bryant, Clifton Garrett, Maquedius Bain, William Johnson Committed and that's is saying something in itself.....This Firm, and This band know what they are doing.....P.S General Justin Fuente was VERY close to getting Bill Clark as DC before promoting Coach Scott....The World Is Ours Memphis....

You are literally just throwing out names as "top choice" or "person of real interest" and just rotating them every couple of hours. Something tells me you know as much inside info on this as I do... But if you throw enough out there you have to be right eventually...

I attend games hoping to see us win, not to be entertained. I'll take a win anyway we can get it, but I don't like it when the other team scores points - especially when they win.

Didn't you say "general fuente" wasn't going anywhere.

Odom, Babers, Briles( no head coaching experience), or any of the offensive coordinators from TCU, Patterson?

Then any of the others except Kiffen or Clark.

Not totally unprecedented. Garrick McGee left as UABs HC to be Petrino's OC at Louisville.

Allegedly McGee has said he knew the program was shutting down before he left so I'm guessing that is why he bailed to go be an OC.

Would you prefer we hire a high school coach from Hughes, Arkansas?
