As a ECU fan and South Carolina resident I would agree with his decision. South Carolina Gamecocks for the most part are a historicaly mediocre Football program. It took two Hall of Fame coaches in Lou Holtz to have a few good years and Steve Spurrier to finally crack the Top 10 after over 100yrs of trying. ECU by the way had a Top 10 finish twenty years before South Carolina did it.

They have a ton of fan support, SEC money, great facilities but for whatever reason most years they are just okay. It took Jadaveon Clowney, their RB before he blew out his knee and some great WR's to get that first every Top 10 finish and SEC East Title. Spurrier was making $4million so if my option was Houston at $3million or South Carolina at $4million I would stick with Houston.

He might very well be waiting for a bigger better job than South Carolina but I am not shocked at all that he said thanks but no thanks to South Carolina.

If true, that goes with how I originally guessed it would play out, but there had been enough out there I thought he was going.

Well then, well done. If he turned down USCe that is a major accomplishment. I don't think it is a wise decision for him but it is a major win for Houston and the AAC.

I do not think that Houston is out of the woods yet. He may have word that a larger more prestigious program is interested: Usc, LSU. He may be more interested in the Missouri job, since he has a friend as the ad. I have never seen one of these guys turn down a better job offer and P5 is better.

he isn't going to Mizzou. Sexton is way too bright to let one of his new clients get involved in that mess.

This is not that hard to figure out guys. His recruiting connections are in Texas. His staff is built to recruit Texas. When Herman leaves, it will be for a P5 job inside Texas.
