Strike it rich seems to work for other G5 programs that stay near the top.

Heck, Houston fired Levine after an 8-5 season. After Briles and Sumlin, 8-5 just didn't cut it there.

They go out and hire Herman and go 10-1 in year 1.

That's the benefit of the strike it rich philosophy as well - you can fire a guy pretty quickly as well and mitigate the damage.

But what do you pay a current OC to become your HC? $500,000 for 3 years so you can fire him without monetary consequence in year 2 if HCing isn't in his wheelhouse?

I don't know that consistently respectable is possible in the current conference. To get noticed for expansion, we need very good attendance and to get that we have to be very good. My point, 7-5 with 30K avg attendance won't cut it.
