And so it begins...
Mo started it off a couple weeks ago after the hideous miscommunication fiasco, but Doc is now on board wondering WTF is going on with UC Football. Good. Media should have been asking tough questions long ago concerning this dysfunctional staff.

Quote:Something is wrong, and it's not the talent or the injuries. Not when you're down 48 after 30 minutes, to a team in a league you were predicted to win...T. Tuberville has not lifted UC football above the bar set by Dantonio, Kelly and Jones. In fact, he hasn't even reached it.

RE: And so it begins...
Here's the thing...Tuberville seems like a really likable guy.

To me the biggest problem has been his inability to put together a strong staff. This program isn't p5 but it shouldn't have to hire grad assistants to become a special teams coach or have a revolving door at DC.

The turnovers on offense and inability for the defense to create them has been a big problem this year. Have to win the turnover battle or at least break even.

I am concerned that many seniors don't seem to be as good this year as expected...or before.

Just seems like the mindset of this team is not like many of the teams in the last 10 years.

It's telling that other teams in the Conference are able to employ experiened assistants. Houston, Memphis and Templr for example have experienced DC's and I can't think of any other schools in the conference who hired a grad assistant as a position coach.

Looking back, we had a good DC in 2013 with Art Kaufman and Tubs fired him. If you recall, the defense that year was half way decent. I thought one of Kaufman's strengths was his ability to make in-game adjustments.

The company line was he did not recruit but frankly I have never bought into that.

RE: And so it begins...
We hired a grad assistant 3 years ago who is still our WR coach as well as the 2 GA Special Teams Coaches in successive years. So that is a GA getting his 1st coaching gig at any level in each of Tubby's 3 years here.

The only Defensive coach in our booth...you know, the guy allegedly talking to Clink and Tubby on those headsets, is a guy who was not even an on field coach and was in a non instruction position at his last job.

Top notch.

We've also got Prunty as the Co-DC in order to give him a big chunk of change for being an ace recruiter. I can't say I've seen any improvement in our DL in three years but the guy can recruit.

They only named him Co-DC to be able to get the pay raise through the school red tape.

Another nice guy and has some recruiting chops, but to phrase it nicely, I'm not exactly afraid we are losing him to another schiol due to his mastery of Xs and Os.

Is the problem with assistant coaches Tubberville's fault or is it because UC has blown the bulk of its coaching budget on the head coach and there's no money left over to pay for decent assistant coaches?

Serious question.....I'm certainly not trying to make excuses for Tubberville.

Yep. It is easy to delegate to the assistants when Bobby Petrino and Gene Chizik are the coordinators, it's something else when your guys haven't had that kind of responsibility before.

As far as paying our assistants, I read somewhere recently we pay the assistant pool as well as any G5 school.. actually one of the best.

We've been at or near the top of that since the BK extension. That was a major sticking point of his.

Honestly, we have enough in our coffers to pull any head coach from another G5 school outside of potentially Houston, Memphis, and UCF, the other robins egg blue bloods in the G5 03-lmfao.

I really think if we wanted to, we could get Matt Campbell, and it would be a great hire given all of the secondary reasons (his recruiting contacts in Ohio, past success as a proven head coach for a full 4-year cycle, good assistant coaches who would follow him, and a very small salary that would could easily quadruple with batting an eyelash).

"Is the score really 51-3?"

I guess the bigger question is when does it end?

Felony theft of over $2.2 million from a taxpayer funded institution.

The upside is he was in his blonde phase. His hair is like a mood ring.

To complicate matters, there's a bench warrant out for his arrest for failure to appear last Friday night in Tampa.

Criminal fraud, too.

Of course, recall he has already faced civil fraud so his legal team is up to the challenge. http://lubbockonline.com/local-news/2012...ed-alabama

Handsome photo of a younger Tubby in one of his grey phases, too.

LOL! Word on the street is he is also facing Witness Tampering and Obstruction of Justice charges for actions taken against members of the media and officials within the UC Administration and Athletic Departments.
