Yes he did.

Kid played well for the situation. Seen a lot worse in the past.

I'm not really up with the fifth string QB situation but was Fiedler a walkon? Does NIU really have five QBs on scholarship?

The kid wasn't bad, I liked what I saw on that last drive.

That's just not a position where a kid like that can thrive. As a walk-on frosh you just don't get the looks/reps in practice. Considering the odds, we were an onside recovery from having a shot.

Good on him.

Maybe slow down on the burning of the shirt tho...lol

Huh? The kid came in under duress and did a hell of a job. We have no idea how good he is or is not. All I know is he played pretty well tonight for a guy who had never taken a college snap. He was throwing into the wind on a cold night too. He is not the reason we lost and he almost became the reason we won. He seemed to improve with every play.

#4 qb, really #5 from Spring when you factor in McIntosh.

And that's on the coaching staff? They should have planned on playing their #4 QB?
I mean how many QB do you think they bring in a yr and put on scholarship? Keep on scholarship fr 4 yrs?

Hmm. I am not a Carey guy, namely for game situations, but I am not going to come close to blaming anyone for who the #4 qb is, good or bad. And I don't think hw was "bad."

RE: Proud of Fiedler shame to burn his red shirt
Considering he was the 5th or 6th string QB, I think his performance was great. When you get down to your 5th or 6th QB things have gone terribly wrong. This was just a messed up year. And to think if WMU can manage to the keep the boat a float and beat Toledo NIU will still be in the Championship game is amazing! I'm a little more than concerned about throwing a walk on true freshman QB into a Championship game, but it would be so awesome if NIU could pull off winning in that situation.

^ this guy

walk through this with me:
1. hare
2. maddie
3. Graham
4. Fiedler
5. Santa

the odds of having to go to your fourth, yeah, FOURTH string QB in a season is slim to nil. it happened to us for the first time in, what, 100+ years of football? Yeah it happened, it stinks, but jeez, how many QBs are we supposed to have? 15? 20? Get real.

Because any decent coach would have a plan for getting to your 5th or 6th QB.03-hissyfit

Fiedler looked good in the pocket... Rolling out. Not so much. Hopefully we will see him for two more games...

Plus in today's world, a "good" 4th string QB would've transferred.

Like what I saw from the fellow South-paw!!
Good on him; airing it out, no fear in the pocket... Would not mind seeing the newbie more!!
