Oklahoma is #3 now? Ok....that makes absolutely no sense

It's rankings like these that make everyone feel like they've got no idea what's going on....they need a better way to determine the four than this schizophrenic rankings garbage

Well, you need to understand that politics matter.

The first thing to understand is that they really do start from scratch each week. Poll position and prior rankings don't matter.

The scheming is only going to intensify.

They aren't rankings anymore.

True. And they are also schizo. They change their standards from week to week. At least Florida joined TCU in dropping after a win. Some consistency there.

They do seem to value good wins and not pay a lot of attention to losses.

Too many people are poll minded conditioned and don't fully grasp the concept of starting from scratch each week.

You mean Notre Dame won their game?

They don't care what their rankings the previous week were. Things change each week in college football. A lot.

The committee seems like a bunch of guys who sit in a bar talking sports, coming up with hot takes every five minutes without worrying about whether their new opinions are consistent with the takes they offered a few minutes ago.

Notre Dame have actually played nobody. Clemson, Temple and Navy really the only ones until they faced Stanford. Notre Dame was really ranked too high.

Most computers say ND has played a tougher schedule than Oklahoma. The committee's actions are bizarro.

Since the last rankings OU and Mich St beat ranked teams (MSU against a highly ranked team), while ND struggled against a weak team and sustained significant injuries. The committee's rankings are more fluid than the pollsters because unlike the pollsters who start with the previous ranks and move teams up or down, the committee has a blank slate and systematically analyzes and ranks the teams. It's the process that results in different rankings week to week. No teams have "position" on other teams like in the past.

Computers are only as good as their initial input. Their actions aren't bizarro. Their actions are their actions. Just because you got it wrong doesn't mean you have to insult them.

The computers have liked OU for a while. The Massey composite has it 1 Clemson, 2 Alabama, 3 OU, 4 Ohio St., 5 Notre Dame, 6 Baylor, 7 Michigan St., 8 Iowa, 9 Oklahoma St., 10 Stanford, 11 Michigan, 12 Florida, 13, Navy, 14 UNC, 15 TCU

I hope OK State blows out Oklahoma this week.

USC and Pitt are both receiving votes in the Top 25...do a little more research David.

Stanford is rated way too high for their actual accomplishments.

They should just wait until after the regular season and conference championships are over; they base it on the team's latest performance anyway.

How the hell is Navy only #15? Should be at least #11 with only one loss and a strong team.
