OOC schedule 2016
Well we know that Kennesaw is on the schedule, but who else would you like to see? I for one am of the belief that they need to schedule wins. The reality is next year's team probably isn't playoff bound, so schedule light. If it were me, I'd call:

Davidson, Stetson, Savannah State, Presbyterian, Austin Peay, Brevard (Homecoming), Rhode Island, Howard, Florida aTm, Missouri State, Wagner, and Mississippi Valley State. I also believe I'd schedule it this way until the team is consistently winning and contending for the conference championship. Play a money game if you must.

Totally agree. Schedule the SoCon teams of course but then put in as many wins as possible We will be a 2nd year team and nothing wrong with building slowly. The wins will will be wins and I wish we could have done more this year. As ssid, we probably will not be hurting our national ranking next year by doing so. I am looking forward to recruiting and the new schedule coming up.

Agree --- schedule to win for next three years. Schedule regional NCAA DIII, NAIA, and non-scholarship FCS teams. Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.

For example, start your list in regional alphabetical order with Averett.

I think we need to buyout or move the Kennesaw game. Do not need to start off the season with a loss next year

Doubt that will happen since they had to play their first ever game away from their place. I think we will probably see KSU, another local FCS team, a D2 or D3, and a non-scholarship FCS team.

RE: OOC schedule 2016
With a full 8 game SoCon schedule there should be only room for 3 OOC games. Kennesaw is one of those and like Fan1, I could see 1 against a D2 or D3 and the other against a lower level FCS of some type. Although if another Montana St. like opportunity arises that includes a paycheck, I could see them taking on a higher caliber FCS opponent on the road.

RE: OOC schedule 2016
So should we expect a 2016 football schedule announcement in a couple of weeks?

I don't know, but I did see where Torbush said to expect some announcements within the next couple of months about future SEC and ACC opponents we will have scheduled in the future.

Is it true that the Power Five schools are moving away from scheduling money games with FCS schools because of the new playoff system rules? That statement by Torbush sure does sound way, way ambitious and dreaming at this stage of program development.

SEC/ACC still schedule FCS, only Big Ten is moving away from scheduling FCS (Great, there goes Purdue's one win a season.).

I'm sure he has some stuff going / under contract, or he wouldn't have mentioned it.

The trend is heading this way. If you're a legitimate year in, year out competitor for the playoffs or conference championships, FCS schools are an SOS killer. High level donors of those schools are sick of having to pay 50/60 bucks a ticket to see for example, UT/Western Carolina. Right now there's no specific rule against it, but the days are numbered.

Yeah, but the flip side is, they bring in a Marshall or Georgia Southern and potentially get beat, thus ruining their bowl/playoff chances. Just ask Florida.

It's a love-hate relationship. You don't like it, but you're afraid to try anything else.

That's where splitting off will happen. It just makes sense for those Power 5 conferences to do their own thing with an NFL model for scheduling. Fans and donors want it. I would rather it be that way.

RE: OOC schedule 2016
I agree. Teams like ETSU have no business playing SEC or ACC teams. In 10 years, I don't see these games happening. I guess I don't have a problem getting the paycheck while the possibility still exists. However, hopefully we build our business model for football without relying on the revenue from these games.

With the stipends now being initiated with the Power Five schools (notice that FSU, for example, gives $6,000 a year) and the impending move to a full playoff system, no reason for them to be bothered by the other non-power five schools. They will break away. The big concern is not football, but basketball. Will they keep the current Division I basketball model? The non-power five DI schools would be wise to support a football break off if the basketball model is retained.
