Has no one else ever suggested (or heard suggested) that a player, when his 20-footer isn't dropping, try stepping in?

If you're on scholarship at a pretty good name DI institution, should you have to be reminded to block out?

If you're a senior power forward/center, shouldn't you have previously considered the possibility that watching a few YouTube videos of Kevin McHale or a few NBA games or a few other college games with a good center and trying to copy some of their moves might help your game and your team's chance of winning?

And shouldn't you already have a free throw shooting technique that works for you by the time you're playing on your third, fourth or fifth team in the last seven or eight years?

Believe me, I do blame the coach for our malaise, but has personal responsibility completely disappeared in this country? Have we had one single team leader in the last seven seasons?

This group of players shouldn't look this bad regardless of substitutions, defenses, or timeouts. Someone with some heart needs to step up and call some people out -- forget about the coach! It should at least be about some pride. Does anybody have any?

In his 7th season, it's no longer about the players. We have blamed the players long enough. These kids need coaching and that seems to be lacking.

Speak for yourself. I haven't been throwing the players under the bus to obfuscate professional malpractice, and I'm not doing it now. I'm also not, like you, voting for no personal responsibility at any level.

The coach needed to be canned before April 15th, at the latest. Then, there would've been one less year of his nut to pay off and fans in the seats now to help do it. But they didn't do that, so now he's still here, but the fans have left.

Regardless, these guys are supposed to be basketball players, not inexperienced trainees. That UTA loss would not have happened if there were half a pound of heart between them. That's on them.

Keeps saying "gotta make shots" and "they make them in practice."

Just the same stuff.

Last night:

Pastner: "I'm just telling you, from our practice, Ricky Tarrant makes them all.."

From August:

Pastner: (on Ricky Tarrant) "He needs to be a really good shooter for us. I think he's a better shooter than his career 3-point percentage (32.5). He's really shot better from 3 than he's shown in his past based on his percentages from his summer with us. "

Tarrant's previous three years' 3 pt %:
2011-12: 34.4%
2012-13: 32.4%
2014-15: 29.9%

First three games at Memphis:
3-14 21.4%

Last night:
1-7

There are NO historical metrics that indicate Tarrant will ever be a good 3pt shooter. Even the beginning of this year, he has not been good. Last night, he went 1-7.

He was getting to the lane with ease and getting fouled almost every time he drove. And he is an excellent ft shooter.

Yet Pastner keeps up this insane notion that Tarrant will simply "turn into" a good shooter.

During that entire post game presser, he might have mentioned the word defense one time. The great coaches realize no matter how much shots don't fall, defense is still a way to win games.

Pastner is just the opposite. Blame offense for not winning.

Memphis was up 55-53 at 4:11 minute mark.

In the next eight UT-A possessions, they scored on SEVEN of them, including five field goals. No turnovers.

That, plain and simple, is why Memphis lost.

Make a stop on defense. Don't give up offensive rebounds.

But no, boy wonder wants to talk about "shots not falling."

Utterly clueless.

Sooooo what are you saying exactly?

He is saying we suck,

Believe me, I couldn't be any calmer about Tiger basketball than I am this year . . . unless he's still here next year. Then, I'll completely unplug.

That's really a statement that's true and applies to many of us here. It's basically a throw away year with an end game in sight at the end of the season. If there isn't a change, all hell will break loose.

Maybe Tarrant and everyone else shoots better at practice because our defense sucks on the perimeter.

All one has to do is look at the average attendance figures to know what the Ambassadors will do regarding any coaching changes after this season plays out...jes' sayin'. 03-phew

No but we do talk about people that suddenly start posting 5 years after they create an account.

He says the same **** every press conference and puts the same crap product on the floor. We underachieve every friggin year. We don't play defense. Get this clown out of here.

Being positive only gets you so far. It was refreshing at first to see his attitude towards things but the product isn't there and hasn't been for some time.

He is an assistant coach and unfortunately we hired him to prove that point.

I feel for the guys on the team

Hopefully we can snag someone who can turn things around.

spot on.

Smart. Most people reinforce success in their strategies, unfortunately Pastner reinforces failure. Can't shoot threes worth a damn? That means we need to shoot even more of them!

How 'bout the blowouts. We've had more with him than anyone.

Here's something that probably no one here will agree with me on: I don't like how he MADE the players take flu shots last year.....and then they got the flu anyway, cuz those things were BS last year. You can't just believe those shots are good for ya because the people who whipped 'em up, or the government, tells ya they are.

Or maybe you can. OK, I'm off my one soapbox.

Basically there's irony there. Someone who doesn't drink a can of carbonated soda MAKES people take flu vaccines.

There are so many strange stories circulating like that about Pastner and his bizarre quirks and edicts. It's borderline psychotic.
