You see the +7 year over year win improvement in '14, and gamble on that being a trend up. I suppose it's true of any AD that reacts to a hot/improved year, in any sport. All they're doing is crossing their fingers and hope the trajectory continues.

Just like we did with Darnell and then Cubit, except they did not get the big paydays.

For the good of the MAC I'm hoping we lose. Lord knows we don't want another crap NIU team representing the MAC West as "our best team" 03-puke and losing by 40 in the MACC.

Doubt if the NIU fans will be coming via Michigan, Ranger (there's that UT edumacation at work again).

Significantly boosting a coach's salary after one shiny season is a gamble, one I think they (the payer) realize.

Curious how that made you giggle.

Google search more stock photos if it helps.

Someone who puts the MAC above any team they root for Should root against us. It will make the MAC look worse if we win. NIU will be riding off red-shirt-stripped true frosh QB, limping into the MACC game, and will get SMOKED by BGSU -- all while the MAC would lose it's sole ranked team. Ouch.

Of course, I can't root against WMU -- but of ANY conf loss we've had in a long while, this one would be the one I'd at least be the least upset with at the end of the day, as there's an upside for the conference if we play a hard-fought game but lose admirably.

And if you think about it -- it would give us More pressure to win a bowl game to get above .500, not below. I'd rather lose to Toledo and win a bowl, than beat Toledo and lose a bowl.

We're 8pt underdogs. The funny thing is, if we win -- which is a possibility as Ely for Toledo is skitso in his performances -- and say we win big playing awesome... in a way, it'll also tick us off: "Where the hell was THAT team when we played BG & NIU?!", all while the MAC loses it's sole ranked team, sending a limping/injured NIU team to get eaten alive by BG.

Well, I assume they'd conduct a link-up operation in the vicinity of Kzoo and then row South with the rest of you roWEers...

Are you boys kidding? Lots at stake here, I would feel very good about the season if we win this game. I am going to the game if the weather clears.

We could finish in a 4 way tie for the west, which is not bad, considering to strenght of the west this year, which I believe may be the best overall in the past two decades. Further, I would hate ending below CMU in standings. Not to mention, a win would be a bowl game, which regardless of what some of you might say, all of us would look forward to a bowl game, and make sure we left the date and time clear to watch it with tremendous attention.

This is a big game, and I want to win it BAD!! In addition to the aforementioned, my good friend and former law partner is a Toledo grad.

Oh, okay, I get it now. By merely saying that the salary boost was a gamble or risky, that isn't "fire 'n brimstone" enough.

We should be playing our best Football now at the end of the season ("Losing is learning").

Haven't had any debilitating injuries to key players.

Fleck's strength apparently is as a motivator.

Get Team prepared, fired up to Beat Toledo in Glass Bowl and earn a Bowl Bid!

:chairshot:Not looking for an argument, but losing your best linebacker, and two first string starters on the offensive line at our level is pretty major.

We're going bowling. It'd take a(n anti) miracle of results to prevent us from earning one this year. But I think I know what you mean -- to truly EARN it. Because if we beat Toledo, it'll make up for a lot of losing the other 2 of the Big 3.

I think we play our best football against not-so-great competition, usually. Once in a while against good G5 competition, and several times against good P5 competition in admirable losses... but against Good G5 competition, we usually get rattled and end up sub-par or very sub-par.

Yeah, and then we play kind of ok against kind of ok teams, and then against kind of not ok teams we play pretty well.

Absolutely. And you can't minimize the effect that has on college-age kids.
