His high school must be very special to him. During pre game intros I always hear him give cred to his high school rather than Rice.

He does that for a reason. Try he couldn't wait to get the heck out of Rice and the coaching staff. I wish he wouldn't have deleted his tweet about Rice football.

He is a tight end. That means Sloan was his position coach. Sloan has probably the most impressive resume on the staff, and I've heard very favorable comments about him. My question, and I understand if you cannot answer, is was the dislike for Sloan or for others on the staff (who can go unnamed)?

Sorry if I'm not a bit skeptical about these claims. For a guy who hates Rice, he sure does retweet Rice football a lot.

Is it surprising for a guy in Seattle, or anywhere really, who is in the NFL and from Canada to support their high school in Canada a lot? And if you do follow him on Twitter, you will see that his hometown and high school are pretty special to the guy.

Also, I remember seeing Luke say that he went to Rice in more than one football game intro, so I really have no idea what the first comment is about.

Plus, I've talked with Luke, and plenty of other former players, and they all seem to have mostly positive things to say about DB and co, evidenced I think by the fact that the amount of alumni who come to games, who played under DB, is generally pretty high. Nothing I've heard from any of the players I've talked to indicates that anyone was really trying their hardest to leave the program early just to get out from under DB. For Luke, he had a good 2011 season and could have declared for the draft esrly if he wanted out, but he returned in 2012 for his RS senior season.

But I suppose you could have some inside knowledge none of us are privy to, but I'll take it with a grain of salt.

I was at practice before the season started and Luke was there talking with various players and coaches. He said he had to leave to go to th airport but he made it a point to come around before he left.

From what I know, the issues stem from issues with "the program" (Things like training table, the training staff, etc.) and one particular coach. The issues aren't with Sloan or Bailiff.

RE: Luke Wilson-Uniforms to Alma Mater
I have no idea what his true feelings about his Rice experience are, but I wouldn't be surprised if many of our former players have some mixed feelings. You can take pride in your team and teammates and what you accomplished there, not to mention your degree, and still not be happy about crappy facilities and small crowds.

(Now, if he wanted to get away from Houston heat and humidity, I can relate to that!)

More to the specific point, there aren't a lot of Canadians in the NFL. By default he's going to get listed as from Rice in many situations, and most would just assume he's yet another Texan in the NFL. His opportunity to wave the flag of his country comes where he can mention his high school instead of his college. I don't hold that against him at all.

Yes I agree. Most Canadians hate to labeled as an American and our proud to be a Canadian.
