From what I was told (from a reliable source), Steals didn't simply walk away. It was off the field issues that caused his demise. I'm glad the season is coming to an end, and with the eternal optimism of an EMU alum and fan, there's always next year. Happy thanksgiving to you all.
I want to get into this subject gingerly, because sometimes more said the worse, not better.
My comments are very GENERAL. Not related to any player or post.
We really need to be careful about discussing players, esp. players who leave the program for one reason or another or who don't play a game or games or season. Most often we don't really know why. A few insiders do but they need to be very careful with that information. Others are probably speculating and there is a good chance their speculation is incorrect.
If pressed I could probably come up with say 10 reasons why a player wouldn't play a season or leave or be asked to leave the program.
Players may leave an athletic program for:
1). Desire for more playing time, e.g., move down to FCS or D-II,
2). Some leave due to injury.
3). Some quit because of lack of desire to continue playing.
4). Some may wish to play at another program for whatever reason.
5). Some may have academic issues.
6). Some may have conduct issues including drug testing violations.
7). Some may wish to transfer to a school which better fits their academic interests (e.g., engineering, etc.)
8). Some may wish to transfer a program which better fits their individual athletic talents (e.g., different offensive style).
9). Some may wish to be closer to home (some Florida kids don't like being on a losing team, cold climate, etc.).
10). Some may drop out or transfer for family reasons, including poor health of a family member, maybe being the father of a child back home, etc. etc.
