The list of openings has now gotten so long, and may get even longer. Syracuse may have to dig pretty deep and hope they find a jewel in either the FCS or assistant ranks. Not a good year to be shopping.

He is a darkhorse but I heard he wants the Cuse job. He coached at Cuse back under Pasqualoni. Eddie did pretty good at USC as an Interim...

Imagine Frost as HC, Ogeron as DL/RC, Schafer as DC (I know that won't happen, but let me dream), and the rest of the guys coming from/having ties to PA, VA/MD, NJ, NY, and MA. That would be a KILLER staff.

And, with relatively new facilities and the promise of a revamped Dome, that staff could put together NASTY teams.

I'd give him the job for that alone. I know his offenses were terrible while he was at 'Ole Miss, but if he was smart enough to learn from his mistake and hire a top-shelf OC, he could be decent. At the very least, he could replenish our talent supply/discipline, and the OC could give us a consistent offensive philosophy. That alone would be worth another 4 years of mediocrity/terribleness.

Finding good defensive coaches in the northeast isn't hard, but finding a guy who can recruit is.

RE: CBS: Syracuse Fires Football Head Coach Scott Shafer
Wild boyz!!! Lol.

"Apparently, Coach Orgeron called his first team meeting the other day.
I was told that in about a 15 minute period, he
cussed and yelled more than most men do in their entire lives. He came
in to the locker room to his new team and stood there staring at his
team. He started to talk in his strong Cajun accent and immediately began
yelling at his new team that this 4-7 **** isn't going to cut it. He
talked about how the last game he coached was the national championship
and screamed that it was a *** **** embarassment to win anything less
than 10 games. He went on yelling about how he recruited Leinart and Bush
and that that he didn't come to Ole Miss to have a losing
season or even to go to this bull**** Cotton Bowl and get thirteenth place.
Thirteenth place is bullsh!t and he came here to win.

He said that his team was going to play defense and hit hard.
goddammmit his team was going to play with ******* passion and they were going
to whip some ***. He then passed a box around the room and said he
wanted every earring in the room in the box. He isn't going to have any
fcuking wimpy girls on his team and wanted every piece of bull**** earring
in that box right now. With the team stunned faced with about as
opposite a person as one could have to Cutcliffe, Coach O started to walk
towards the door. He looked back at the team as they passed around the box
and said, "I'm going to walk out of here right now, and when I come
back in here, I'm going to have my shirt off, and I want everyone of you
mother... to have your shirts off too."

He walked outand everyone, confused, started taking their shirts off.
Sure enough, O walked back in, bigger than alot of the guys on the team,
without his shirt on. He started yelling and telling the team that they
needed to get loud. He said, "When I point to this side of the room, I
want you to say 'Ole Miss.' When I point to this side, I want you to
say, 'Wild Boys.'" Standing there with no shirt on with every guy in the
room shirtless, started pointing to each side of the room. Half the
team would yell, "Ole Miss" while the other would yell "Wild Boys."
Apparently it got pretty crazy and guys started flipping chairs, yelling, and
throwing cooler across the room while chanting Ole Miss... Wild Boys.
He then stopped and said, "One more thing. If any of you mother...
thinks you can take me, you come up here and get a piece of me right now."
He gave everyone an opportunity to come up and fight him and said,
"That's what I thought," and walked out of the room. In another story, Lane
was out passing with another player, and Coach O apparently ran up to
him, tackled him, stripped the ball, and took off running down the
field."

I don't know if his crazy, Cajun style would play well in the Northeast.......

Don't leave out Jeff Brohm. He is a QB mind and played as a good one as well as being currently a Hot coaching prospect as HC at WKU. Learned under Petrino, Schnellenberger, Zook . Recruits well in ACC/SEC territory.
He also played Baseball for the Watertown Indians back in the 1990's so He knows NY.

Potential Syracuse targets: Scott Frost, Lane Kiffin, Joe Moglia, Joe Moorhead, Mike Sanford & Dave Warner.

Lane Kiffin?????

Leave Mike Sanford alone. IF you want a coach with ND ties, Bob Davie and Ty Willingham are available. :)

Why not? He already fits the Syracuse Head Coach prerequisite that you must be a mouthy, classless jerk.

Rhule could probably stay overnight at the Linc and go from Temple right over to the Eagles. Chip is really *that* bad.

It's going to be insane seeing if Chip comes back to the college ranks and be highly desired. His gimmickry might only really work on paper rather than with him calling the shots at the pro level, but he proved himself to be quite an unapproachable sort in town here, and that should be a giant red flag to schools to maybe not roll out the red carpet, welcoming him back to the college ranks.

It would bother me too if a coach in the AAC had no interest in my ACC school but was willing to look at other jobs in that same conference.

I still enjoy that Al Golden turned down the opportunity to interview with Syracuse when Temple was in the MAC. That is a fact.

I see a lot of similarities between the pro tenures of Steve Spurrier and Chip Kelly. "Systems" simply don't work in the NFL - you have to be able to adjust to the talent that you have because of the salary cap and draft instead of the other way around (which is how colleges generally work with the recruiting process). As soon as he was hired by the Eagles, I thought, "This isn't going to end well." That was exacerbated by all of the roster altering moves that he made this past offseason.

That has nothing to do with his skills at the college level, though. He can (and should) be getting a top level college job. My guess is USC.

Wow. I hope you can keep your coach, Western Kentucky, but those jerseys need to be burned in a bonfire.

Chip Kelly the coach won 10 games 2 years in a row and made the playoffs one of those years. He knew the Eagles from last year were not good enough to contend in the NFC and thus made the right decision to overhaul the players. However, Chip's biggest problem has been Chip Kelly the GM and not being able to find a franchise quarterback.

It may not end well but he has already done more in the NFL than most coaches.
