RE: Iowa state job opened
Iowa St should have fired Rhoads last year and went after Tom Herman when they still had a shot to get him.

Herman was the OC at ISU before he was an assistant at Ohio St and then head coach at Houston.

Now its too late to get Herman. Herman is now the hot candidate that every P5 school wants.

Odds are ISU will end up wih a coach out of the MAC.

This was expected. But to many good jobs are currently open.

There are several open head coaching jobs that will pay well, but very few that are set up well for a new coach to win consistently. Iowa State's vacancy is one of many that fall into the "pays well/not set up well" category.

Depends on the coach - the ECU job is better for an up and comer, while the Iowa State job will likely end your career. If the coach just wants to collect a check, Iowa State is probably better. Not many recruits near Iowa State and you have to play a whole lot of teams full of Texas talent plus Iowa every year.

I disagree. Fanbases aren't that much different in size (44k vs 52k attendance). A lot easier to recruit at ECU. And a lot easier to win - ECU doesn't play Texas & Oklahoma every year. They're about equal football jobs.

For basketball ISU is way ahead though.

Please take Tommy Tuberville... He is good at collecting the checks...

Cool story. Not sure why you brought ECU into this. Iowa State is a recruiting wasteland, just like upstate NY. Plenty of "crappy P5 jobs" and there are plenty of "good G5" jobs.
