I could see him taking one in a state that borders Texas but that's about it

VT, IMO, is one of the best jobs in the country.

Why? Seriously

RE: Chad Morris to Virginia Tech?
Because the acc coastal is setup to be a bunch of patsies for vtech and Miami to run through every year and give a 10+ win opponent for Clemson or FSU in the champ game. Miami and vtech are down this year but luckily unc scheduled two fcs teams and got a lucky break so they're filling in for the minute.

Division/Conference
Pays pretty well
Not the best location, but like I said, perfect middle ground between the Northeast and Deep South
Great school
Reasonable expectations by school and fans
Tradition, facilities, etc.

Fair enough. I dont see it as a better job than south Caro or mizzou. Way below uga and lsu. 3rd or 4th best in the acc. I don't see it as a good enough job to pull or keep a big name

RE: Chad Morris to Virginia Tech?
Chad Morris will leave SMU but for the job he wants near his recruiting stronghold in or near Texas which won't be this year. Last year was so easy to rank Coaching prospects. My personal list for SMU was:

1. Chad Morris
2. Tom Herman
3. Montgomery
4. Lincoln Riley

Nailed it

Who are those sure-things this year besides Riley. Both TCU assistants Meachum and Cumbie are good bets but I'm not so sure they are home-runs

What I don't understand is these sources continue to pump out "agreement in principle" year after year and they're always wrong but people continue to go back to them. It's like f-ing methodone when your probation officer forbids heroin.

Well, Morris released statement via Twitter denying rumors saying he is at SMU to rebuild the program and not going anywhere. I'll take it.

If the rumor is true. You can see Morris is turning around that SMU program, I guess VT is seeing the same thing we all see with that situation, he can coach.

How good are your sources because they say Virginia Tech has had the their man Coach Fuente before Frank Beamer announced his retirement.

They haven't had a losing season since 1992 and finished ranked 16 times in that span and people are still asking this. They got to be one of the most consistently good programs in the nation the last 25 years. As unimaginative as Beamer was on offense I don't think it would take much to get to the next level. That is the side of the ball that where you can overachieve your talent and really make a difference in coaching. Defense is more about the talent level you have and they have always matched up well getting that their. I still think they owe bud Foster the job though. He might actually be good if he still handles the defense and actually gives a OC room to work like Ruff did here with Riley. Who knows he might not even want a head job. Seemed content to be a #2 forever and has had chances to get good jobs.
