Magnum needs to stop shooting. Take him out if he's that selfish. Put stone in.

Wish our guards would give Thompson the ball more.

He is shooting because there is no offense...but point taken.

That is a good idea. Maybe some set plays for him.

Run more high pick and rolls with him. Good enough hands to catch and dunk.

That might the only way EMU can make a basket some nights...by dunking it

This game means about as much to me as the Siena Heights game. Michigan State looks like a national title contender. Hard to take much away from this game. Just take the paycheck and move on. Let's get past these next two cupcakes with no injuries, get Raven Lee back, and prepare for a competitive OOC stretch in December.

I am welcoming the Marygrove game after this one

Good point. Lots of Big Ten teams can find themselves down 20 to 30 to MSU. Is Penn St? It will be on BTN again which will be nice to get to watch.

For Alvano's complete inability to beat his opponent off the dribble or to shoot the ball, he still manages 3 assists with no turnovers. How does he do that?

Yep.
As Super said, kind of quirky, the Siena Heights game was an 'outlier', simply an outcome or value which has no meaning but actually distorts other data (like having a million dollar house in a neighborhood of 100K houses). E.g., even though the non D-I games are nearly meaningless, individual and team stats are kept and they get really conflated. Team defense, shooting etc.
This is kind of the same. Playing supposedly a top 5 team without Lee really tells us nothing how we might do vs. Western Michigan, for example. How does a mid-major play without one of the leading scorers in his conference against a top 5 team?
Would it have been a 15 point game w. Lee? Would that have been an acceptable outcome given that MSU is supposedly top 5?
That said, after two non-D-I games we should have Lee back and we'll be back playing D-I games. Ne-Omaha and PSU, both on the road should tell us something. We need to beat one and be respectable vs. the other.

A few observations. Toney uses his body well in attacking the basket, although not a point guard that sets up his teammates for shots he can put pressure on the defense with his driving ability.
Mangum takes so many bad shots, I'm glad Murphy sat him the last 10 minutes or so. I remember reading an article when he signed where his JC coach said he took too many bad shots but had the green light.
Price played more aggressive than I've seen him. He did not settle for only outside shots. Nazione has added to his game but struggled to finish against MSU length and athleticism. When Lee returns it will change the dynamic of the rotation. I'm not convinced we are a good enough passing team to win the MAC title but should be able to compete with anyone in the conference.

I got some more confirmation that Lee will be back for the Omaha game, making it as many have suspected a 6 game suspension.

Agree with your points.
Mangum will shoot a team into or out of games, depending if he is red hot or ice cold.
When Lee returns Murphy will need to figure how to play both and find the guy with the hot hand.
I can only have wondered what the game would have been like if Shilling was healthy and played. Costello, Shilling and Davis are damn tough for a team like us.
I saw Davis play against Stone in h.s. last January. Davis is like a Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, etc. big guys who developed very early in h.s. and just moved to the B1G as if it was another year of h.s. ball. His body wasn't manufactured at MSU. He had it in h.s.
I think both Davis and Thompson will make the NBA.

At least we didn't lose to Weber State like CMU did tonight. Ouch.
