Tech is referring to the USM visit as "Rivalry in Dixie". The USM folks have picked it up as "The Battle for the West". Take your pick.

Thats what Tech has b een calling it. Our student body has never heard of Tech until last 2-3yrs, were not even born at the time Maxie Lambright coined that phrase. The official USM poop is now referring to it as Battle for the West, a more realistic term.

So your student body is ignorant. I mean that's what you're saying here?

I am sure the USM students have heard of Tech in general terms and on the same basis as they hear of the other bunch of schools in the University of Louisiana system. From an athletic standpoint though until recently it is and has been rare to ever hear of La Tech. They have played in far flung conference, USM had not played them in modern times (during the lifetime of current students), and they have not headlined the news media in Mississippi. Fact is, the Baton Rouge newspaper rarely has writeups on Tech as they concentrate on the middle and southern part of the state. The current student body had not even been born when Tech and USM played regularly so thats what I mean when I say they have never heard of them.

Loser, Tech and USM played in 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2014. How old are your current students, 5?

Read my second sentence again. 4-5yrs is "recent" in the grand scheme of things.
