When I click to buy tickets, I get the option to contribute $50 to Duke Club to upgrade seats and then can purchase those seats. How is this "cutting off our nose to spite our face"?

Depending on how one navigates the buy tickets page, you may or may not get the option to upgrade for the $50 contribution. Click on upcoming events-JMU vs Colgate- no upgrade option. Click on Football, the upgrade appears. It's been like that all week. Unnecessarily cumbersome for the general public.

But beyond that, I don't think the mindset for hosting an FCS level playoff game should be how can we get the most money out of our loyal fans. It ought to be how can reward our team w/ the best home field advantage without losing any money. Season ticket holders have paid their Duke Club contribution and gotten their 6 home games & parking passes. The gravy is that they get first dibs on playoff tickets and parking. That's great and as it should be. But no one is entitled to anything beyond that.

Since it's been proven across the FCS landscape over the years that ticket sales lag in the playoffs, why not make the pricing more attractive for Club and chairbacks (both for the season tix holders and the public)? Seriously, the difference between 209 and C6 is negligible from a viewing standpoint but the $150 dollar difference is substantial. Once those season ticket holders who did decide to attend have been accounted for, we're simply not going to get many Joe Publics or disengaged alumni willing to fork over $120 to $225 dollars for an FCS game against Colgate.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Just think it's going to look mighty silly with close to 50% of the seats between the 25 yard lines empty, with big clusters of fans on the outskirts. That aside, let's take care of business. Go Dukes!

Supply and demand. If club sales end up being low today, then maybe JMU will have a chance to adjust next week provided things go the Dukes way in the playoffs.

I wonder what the break even price is for club seats. With food and beer available pregame and during the game a large man can do some damage in there.

At $135 a pop for club seats, they are making money or there is something very wrong with their purchasing and cost analysis folks. You only get two free drinks. The rest are more profit for the school.

JMU should make as much money as they can. The reward for loyal fans is that the team made a playoff game. I swear some of you think JMU is a charity rather a for profit entity. If they can double the prices of seats and get 15,000 people that is better than discounting them to half the current ticket price and getting 25,000 people who really don't care to come and observe rather cheer on the team. They make more money too. It's called profit margin.
