RE: Cruz roars to #2 in Iowa
Rubio's numbers seem rather stagnant. He seems unable to get the surge that Trump, Carson, Fiorina, and possibly now Cruz have seen.

It will be interesting to see if Trump sharpens his fangs now on Cruz, since those two have been pretty kind on one another thus far.

My brother in California who is the political expert in our family has gone on record predicting Rubio will get the nomination for the Republicans. I've told him (and will remind him in two weeks when I see him again) that I think he's wrong, and I think Cruz will be the eventual primary winner over Rubio.

My other prediction - soon, we'll see some anonymous leaks of some highly damaging anti-Trump messages. All the other candidates have been waiting for his surge to end, but in a few more weeks, they're going to get nervous and not want to wait anymore. My suspicion is that there are a ton of things in Trump's background that make some of the Clinton/Obama allegations pale in comparison.

They came out a while back and said that this is all a part of the plan. They want to hit their peak right before Iowa and are trying to stay around 3rd or 4th. Rubio has absolutely destroyed everyone in the debates and I think he is a shoe-in for the nomination. Maybe I really just want to see a Rubio/Hillary debate since it would be an absolute slaughter 05-stirthepot

I believe Trump, Cruz, Rubio, and Christie would all destroy Hillary in a debate.

I wish we would narrow the field for the main stage down to four. I know the establishment doesnt want to do it because Jeb, Kasich, and Christie are nowhere near the top 4. Looks like they are keeping the field at 9 for the CNN debate. That sucks.

I was unimpressed with Rubio in the debates. He offers no substance. Hillary would slice and dice him. He won't do well in a debate with only 2 or 3 people when he can't as easily dodge things. Cruz is good. He was actually some kind of national debate champion when he was at Princeton.

What about his praise from Alan Derschowitz of Harvard. Sounded pretty impressed with Cruz. Rubio has been picked by lots of people, including Charles Krauthamer, to be the winner of the primary, the nomination and the election. Trump is still out there in the lead, however. Musing.

Xenophobia plays well to the polling Republican base.

Rubio is the favorite in Vegas for the nomination last I saw. That doesn't mean he wouldn't be a disaster in November.

It would seem to benefit those with experience, but we aren't seeing that yet.

Not that. The pro-immigration candidates may as well save their money for next time. They have no shot at the primaries now.

If the field were narrowed, I would be looking forward to the next debate. Rubio and Bush want war while Trump and Cruz do not. It would be an interesting and perhaps substantive debate with real contrasts. Unfortunately, the likes of Kasich, Fiorina, and Christie are going to ruin it.
