Top 4 are basically locked in. We need a big upset to stir the pot. OSU can still get back in this thing, as can Baylor.

I will add ND moves to 3 to avoid the rematch scenario in the Orange.

There's always the possibility that Clemson moves down to 2, especially if their performance against South Carolina or North Carolina were to be rather pedestrian; the committee has already thought about putting Alabama at 1, although now that LSU has fallen apart that win has certainly lost some luster.

For this coming week, I don't see how they can do anything other than this:

1 - Clemson
2 - Alabama
3 - Notre Dame
4 - Iowa

5 - Oklahoma
6 - Michigan St
7 - Florida

Pundits on my local radio station are killing ND for their performance last night and thinks OU deserves to jump them. Interesting. One more week to go for ND.

I don't know that Iowa beating Purdue and ND beating BC has Iowa passing ND. I can see MSU passing the Sooners, so I'd just flip those two:

1. Clemson
2. Alabama
3. Notre Dame
4. Iowa

5. Michigan State
6. Oklahoma

{Which has Notre Dame not being set to rematch against Clemson as a bonus.}

As long as they have even records OU cant jump ND thanks to the longhorn common opponent. ND trashed a terrible horn team while OU didn't show up and got beat by them.

You can't look at one game here and there. Besides Clemson which was a loss, ND hasn't played anybody. I know people here talk like the AAC is the second coming, but those aren't big time opponents. I need to see the performances against Stanford and Okie St before I can say definitively.

the committe has a history of slightly dropping teams after poor performances against bad teams especially at home/neutral sites. Will be interesting to see how they handle ND and Florida. Also will be interesting to see how they handle all the injuries.

Hard to predict what the committee will do because in any given week they might do something that seems completely unrelated to their standings of the previous week, and then offer some BS rationalization for doing it.

But let's guess

Clemson
Alabama
Iowa
Michigan State
Notre Dame
Oklahoma
Baylor
Ohio State
Florida
Oklahoma State

If Navy wins out (beats Houston, Temple and Army); then they should be in the top 10.

ND falling to 5 would set up the rationale for throwing them out the final week and playing wait and see with OU. It's the perfect alibi. Of course they can never admit the rationale to the public, but it's obviously an insight that they are projecting down the line (which they can never do publicly). Obviously MSU and Iowa can be ranked 6 for all anybody cares, but that game will determine who gets to 3/4.

I want to see where Baylor and Okie St are at with respect to OSU/Stanford/UNC. These clubs have to start positioning themselves in case of upsets. Florida controls it's own destiny so mute point... although a doomsday scenario would be losing to FSU and then winning against Bama. How would either team get in at that point? I think Stanford would be a better two loss at that point.

Notre Dame, Oklahoma, & Baylor are the next in line in no particular order.

Not sure why those pundits would do that other than they hate Notre Dame? OU wasn't exactly impressive. They barely eeked by a TCU team that played without their Heisman candidate the entire game and had a boatload of other injuries, really a shadow TCU from earlier in the season. Their 1-point MOV was surely within the margin of home field advantage.

And you say "Notre Dame hasn't played anybody", and yet Sagarin and Colley both have ND as playing a tougher schedule than OU at this point.

I can see Iowa passing Notre Dame this week, but not Oklahoma.

Beyond that, remember that most of these same pundits were predicting that ND would be out of the top 4 last week, and yet there they were at #4 anyway. The CFP committee likes ND more than many of the talking heads do. So don't expect Oklahoma to pass them.

Iowa's best win: Northwestern
Northwestern vs. Michigan: Michigan 38 Northwestern 0
Iowa's second best win: Wisconsin
Wisconsin did not play any good Big 10 East teams

The Big 10 West is essentially a G5 Conference this year. No way can Iowa be #3.

And Florida needed the refs to swallow their whistles to get an OT win vs. a 2-9 Sun Belt team.

1 Clemson
2 Alabama
rest-I've got no clue how they will order them-Iowa, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Baylor, Michigan St., Florida, Ohio St., Oklahoma St. should be top 10.

Notre Dame won by 3 points over a 3-8 team. OU won over a top 20 team.

Undefeated to me is still a feat and I do get the point of their schedule/division being weak which it is. I could deal with having them @ #4. But this is how I would vote. I imagine the CFP committee leaving Iowa right outside the top 4 at #5 or #6. Ohio State had a similarly weak schedule, losing to their only ranked opponent yet Ohio State has been in the top 4. Now that I think about it I would put Michigan State above Iowa because of a win against Ohio State and Michigan on the road and a win against Oregon.

No question, ND wasn't impressive yesterday. But OU wasn't impressive enough to pass them. Winning by 1 at home against anyone ranked well below you is essentially a loss on a neutral field. You need to be more impressive than that to move past other teams. Now Iowa? Sure.
