RE: 11 teams still left in the national title hunt
Just stop putting Alabama in Tier 2. They are clear as day Tier 1, and everyone knows it except for you... Also, Iowa is in no way shape or form tier 1....
Also, Oklahoma St has pretty much no chance in hell of winning now. Even if they beat Oklahoma, they would need TCU to beat Baylor to have a chance, and that ain't happening.
And UNC has no chance in hell.

Pretty much, but at this point, Fla/Bama/ND/MSU all control their own destiny, so they can be tier I was well.

Iowa is undefeated and has a clear shot to the CFP. Everyone in his tier 2 has a loss, everyone in his tier 1 doesn't. It is pretty clear how HE fashions his tiers.
You can hate all you want but it all comes down to the results, not the name. Iowa has Nebraska and Michigan State left on it's path. So far they have beaten everyone else.
I know you want to try and say that Iowa has no chance against MSU but that is just your opinion. The facts show that MSU barely squeaked by Purdue in a home game and I highly doubt the weather was anywhere near as bad as what Iowa won by 20 in.
Also, MSU lost to Nebraska. If Iowa beats Nebraska then that is one more notch in Iowa's favor when comparing the two.
The doubters have fueled this Iowa team all year so by all means, don't stop now. That being said, the doubt is pretty silly.

Alabama loses to Auburn and Ole Miss beats MSU. Then either Ole Miss beats Florida or FSU does.
Michigan St. loses to Penn St. and Michigan beats Ohio St. and beats Iowa.
Notre Dame loses to Stanford.
UNC wins out.
None of this individually is that unlikely. And UNC would easily be in the top 4, maybe #2.

Nope....
Michigan in easily over UNC even at 11-2
ND in easily over UNC even at 10-2.
Okla St/Okla/Baylor in easily over UNC
For UNC to have ANY shot, Stanford would have to lose.
Oh, and quite frankly, Alabama at 10-2 would still likely get in over UNC. UNC's schedule is that bad. Hell, Clemson would probably get in over UNC quite frankly.

He says that tier 1 means you can lose and still get in. Sorry- but if Iowa loses, they are not going.

They could lose to Nebraska and still get in. Why? Because they could beat MSU the next week and become the 12-1 Big Ten Champion.
So what if they lose to Nebraska, are you saying that Michigan State has no chance in getting into the CFP even if they win the CCG against Iowa?

If Iowa loses to Nebraska but beats MSU- they wouldn't be in. Clemson, Alabama, Notre Dame, Oklahoma would be your 4 playoff teams.
And I wouldn't say Michigan St is automatic if they go 12-1(whether or not they beat Iowa at 12-0 or 11-1). If ND beats Stanford, they are in. It would really depend on how Michigan St would beat Iowa. If it's close, I think Oklahoma would be in. If it's a blowout, Michigan St would have a chance.

RE: 11 teams still left in the national title hunt
The tiers don't really make sense....basically you're looking at 5 groupings
Alabama (SEC Champ)
Clemson/North Carolina (ACC Champ)
Iowa/Michigan State (Big 10 Champ)
Oklahoma/Baylor (Big XII Champ)
.........anddddd Notre Dame
everyone needs Notre Dame to lose....the Big XII Champ, North Carolina, and Iowa if they lose to Nebraska, all need the Irish to lose

This is nonsense...if Stanford beats Notre Dame, then North Carolina can essentially play their way in. The committee highly values a conference champion, they're not going to put in a conference runner-up with a worse record over a conference champ that just beat the #1 seed
North Carolina just needs Stanford to beat Notre Dame, and to beat Clemson, and they'll be #4....most likely against Bama

Michigan State is automatic with wins over Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon
I do agree that Iowa must beat Nebraska...if Iowa loses to Nebraska, but upsets Michigan State, they're going to be judged against Notre Dame and Oklahoma....they could get left out

RE: 11 teams still left in the national title hunt
Iowa will be out no matter what if they lose the UN game next week. UNC moves ahead of them with a win over Clemson. Iowa cannot match UNC ig both teams finish at one loss, assuming Iowa comes back to win the B1G title.
UNC versus 1 loss conf runner up like Baylor also goes to UNC.
UNC is also in over two loss ND. Over two loss Stanford? Probably not, but all they need is 2/3 scenarios.
