Akron has to get healthy, though. It's not like the Zips have one player out, but three of the top 8 in the rotation (Robotham, Forsythe and Jimond Ivey) are out for at least the next couple of weeks, and another starter, Jake Kretzer, who knows? He has a history of rapid heartbeat issues. Hopefully, for his health, it is nothing major. But, IMO, it didn't look good. He shot a three at the end of the Villanova game them immediately grabbed his chest and went straight to the bench. The announcers thought he took a shot to the chest, but he was untouched. Scary sight.
On the surface, it looks like something the coaching staff is concerned about as they brought in freshman Daniel Utomi in the final minute of a 20-point game. The staff had said that he was redshirting this year. Why burn it if there was no doubt things would be OK with Kretzer?
Plus, a fifth guy, Josh Williams, is still less than 100 percent due to back issues.
On the bright side, if Akron can get past Green Bay tonight, they should be favored in every game until they play UC Santa Barbara and Iona around Christmas in Vegas. By then, Ivey should be back. Kretzer maybe as well (he may not miss a game, or his career is over, there is no telling for now). Robotham is a question mark, but since he is from Vegas, I'm sure he is targeting that tourney as his return date. Forsythe could be out a while (broken rib), but maybe he can also get back by then.
