Better get it this year, topper. With Middle and Marshall both having proven, freshman QBs it might be 2019 before you get another shot.

Don't be too sure about that. We have TONS coming back. Doughty and Dangerfield are gone, but the QB transfer from USF has a great arm, and has had a year to learn our system. Our RB situation is also in great shape. If Brohm leaves, I would guess our OC, Tyler Helton would get a shot at head coach, leaving our offensive scheme intact. If so, we will be a contender again next year.

This is a "Bettors Beware" type of game. Historically, these are type types of games that Marshall rises to the occasion and wins. I think about 2013 vs. Carden and ECU... 2008 vs. Keenan and Houston, bowl games on the big stage.... We almost always answer the bell at the end. I expect this may be a lower scoring game than most expect as Marshall will have learned its defensive lesson from last season.

But, our archrival Western is located 65 miles from downtown Nashville! That means they are in a TV Market that contains about 2 million sets of eyeballs!
Which then allows us to ask the question, why did C-USA invite both MTSU and WKU if they both bring the same tv market. Kind of like FIU and FAU. We added more mouths to feed than was needed to bring in the same markets.
If the idea was just to get to 14 teams then why not go after GSU or Ark St. instead of FAU and WKU. I say FAU and WKU because they were invited behind FIU and MTSU. I m not trying to bash anyone in this. But if the whole idea is to get more households within the CUSA footprint why add schools within markets you are in. I just don't understand what we were doing other than hitting the panic button.
WKU gets some pub in Nashville. But we get a lot more out of the Louisville market. The major publications in Louisville talk about UK, UofL, WKU, Indiana weekly. Any other schools are rarely talked about. WDRB TV and the Louisville Courier-Journal have beat writers assigned to WKU games.
Bowling Green is the 3rd largest city in the state and is also the fastest growing city in the state and has been for the last 20+ years. BG was declared a metro area 10 years ago. The greater BG metro area is now about 220,000 peoples even though only about 70,000 reside inside the actual city limits. My old man still works for the city. These are the numbers he has told me. He is the city's GIS and GPS director.
In addition WKU has satellite campuses in Owensboro (4th largest city in KY) and Elizabethtown (10th largest city in KY).

I guess a lot of people thought the same of Marshall this year. Yall have done pretty well. We lose a huge, huge piece of our offense in BD, plus a couple more pieces. Most of our wr corps is back, along with our offensive line. We might not put up video game numbers next year, but don't dismiss us just yet. Hopefully, our defense will take another step forward as well, as they have this year. Exciting times on the Hill!

We said the same thing about losing Cato and Shuler and the rest of the departures. I think everyone will agree here that it impacted us more than us herd fans wanted to admit it would. We were telling everyone how Birdsong had a great arm, had experience etc. Well we know what the result was.
You will see a dramatic loss of offense when your QB grads. Don't kid yourself. Its not to say that you can't do well without him, its more of don't expect this kind of production for a little while type of thing.

I expect a Herd type of season next year .....struggle offensively but improve on defense since we return most.
