I am so happy for Geiger.... What a way to end a game.

Go State!

wait, you said go State? But I thought u guys just referred to yourself as Michigan because u represent the whole state, right? That's what Ohio State fans tell us here in Ohio, that they can refer to themselves as just Ohio because they represent all of us, including the 7 other FBS schools in the state, one of which is actually named Ohio, btw.

So don't say go State, say go Michigan. Because its not arrogant or disrespectful to the actual school named Michigan, its just a statement of pride for your state. Right Buckeye fans? Right?

Go Michigan!

do you guys have a lot of traditions where you refer to your school just as Michigan though, like cheers and band formations, etc? because that would be totally reasonable.

Mostly its a simple mindedness when it comes to college athletics around OSU.

With parity anything is possible these days. Georgia Southern taking Georgia to OT was expected. Florida Atlantic taking Florida to OT was unexpected. With all the talent out there these days if you do not show up to play you will get beat.

In college basketball the size of the arena isn't too important and its becoming that way in college football where its about the bells and whistles not the seats.

To act like OSU football is as important to the world as the Catholic Church is pure idiocy. Its just another college football team among the 1,000 or so that are out there.

Fanatical fans of sports teams are often like that. You'll get people who feel that way about Man Utd, when it's obvious that from Manchester, its only Man City that is more important to the world than the Catholic Church.

The world's definitely a better place when Ohio State and/or Alabama lose.

I'd love to be at a place where chaos ensues if you don't play for the national title single year or in some cases, win every single game. Talk about elitist entitlement at tOSU and LSU.

Thing you wonder with Meyer now- and I saw it on Gameday before his segment where he was with his daughter- is he almost done being at Ohio St? He's been there 4 years. I think his shelf life at a place is extremely limited- like 4-6 years tops.

That attitude must grind down coaches quickly. When Spurrier left Florida for the NFL, he said it wasn't fun coaching at Florida anymore because every loss was a disgrace and every win was just a relief.

Well, it's not all that strange for elites to have a sense of elite entitlement, is it?

At those schools, they expect to be in the mix for major honors - conference titles, major bowl games, and the national title - on a regular basis. No, that doesn't mean they literally expect to go 13-0 and win the title every single year and they commit mass suicide and fire everyone in the AD if they don't. But they expect to be in the mix, in the discussion, and have results that show they aren't all that far from being there.

When Urban isn't surrounded by great coordinators he develops stomach problems. Urban is not a micro manager. He is a great CEO. It has become apparent that when an offensive genius leaves he is at a loss as to how to utilize personnel if the new OC is just average.

I think most programs would like to have a coach who wins a national title or two his first five years, then develops stomach problems. Urban has won 3 national titles in 10 seasons at P5 programs and counting his Fiesta win at Utah, he is 6-1 in major bowls as well.

There's really nothing to say about that but heap mountains of praise on him.

Maybe it's Dan Mullen and Tom Herman that deserve the praise. The championships occurred while they were the OCs. The offensive futility began the year after each left.

LSU plays in the toughest division in football with the best program in college football. They played for the title less than five years ago.

Good coaches don't grow on trees, just like franchise QB's and legit Heisman candidates. LSU is not as good as they were a few years ago but who can sustain that? No one can compete for the title every year except Red Auerbach, Phil Jackson, Pat Riley with Magic Johnson, John Wooden, Bill Walsh with Joe Montana and Nick Saban (excuse me if I omited a few more names, you get the point). Not even Coach K, Greg Popovich, Bill Belichek compete for the title or go to the Final Four/NBA Finals/Super Bowl every season for goodness sake and sometimes flames out in the first round to clearly inferior opponents.

Sounds like their expectations are out of tune with reality. Get a grip.

Ohio State has scored 28+ points in 9 of 11 games this year. In 2009, sans Mullen, Florida went 13-1. Even in 2010, sans Tebow, Florida scored 30 or more in 8 out of 13 games. They weren't futile on offense either year, really.

You may end up being right, but I don't think the existing evidence is supportive right now.
