Yes to both of the above. Less Kent, and less expectations. Very sad, I thought we would DEMOLISH these teams...and honestly I can no longer make the "we don't have talent" excuse. We have damn good talent this year, it's now falling on Brady's shoulders for not using it properly.

RE: ORU @ JMU IN-GAME
Assist to field goal ratio for team has not been good, especially the last two games. That's an indication of poor ball movement and shot selection. Also, team has not converted on free throws the last two games. Those are two big areas where they can improve.

The Dukes took 15 3pt shots in the first half and shot poorly. I'm not sure why, but they didn't start feeding Dalembert until the 2nd half

Once the deficit was 10 points, the Dukes never really made a move that could get the crowd into the game.
Oral is a solid team and they will do well this year.

RE: ORU @ JMU IN-GAME
Disappointed in the Dukes the last couple of days. They've fallen back into some of the same malaise that has plagued them in the past. A few thoughts:

maybe they aren't as well conditioned as some had suggested- Back to Back games and Shakir Brown looked like he struggled to get started yesterday

Kent has put on some weight but he is really playing poorly- as has been suggested Kent seems to be a favorite of Brady's but on this team he should have to earn minutes and shouldn't be a starter.

The offense is predictable- with YoYo back hopefully that changes- I'd actually like to see a starting 5 of YoYo, Serb, Brown, McLean and Curry- Serb plays with great energy and can score-that's probably why Brady prefers to bring him off the bench-but having him and YoYo on offense at the same time would make the offense less predictable. Also they need another ball handler who is quick with Curry (maybe that can become Morgan at some point but McLean is the best option now). McLean can shoot as well. I think they need to worry less about being deep and more about being fluid and efficient on offense. Have Tom V as the first big man off the bench (he's foul prone anyway and you know what you are going to get from him), Grays or Morgan can be the first guard off the bench. Maybe have Morgan lead a second unit when you are looking to steal some minutes (late first early second) or up by a wide margin to see if he can spell Ron more and more as the season goes on. Satkus just seems to turn the ball over too much- unforced travels, ball control issues etc. I don't think he should get many minutes. With YoYo, Serb and Vodo they should have enough front court minutes to go around. I'd like to see more Kangni and Morgan- Grays and Kent's minutes shouldn't be guaranteed. I think both take too many 3s for not hitting a high enough percentage. They need guys who can slash and drive to the basket because they are better are rebounding than they have been in the past and it puts more pressure on the defense.

RE: ORU @ JMU IN-GAME
Team is not playing cohesively. Look at FIU and Oral Roberts....all the pieces fit and are interchangeable, both offensively and defensively. No one misses a beat. JMU, on the other hand, looks discombobulated, playing in fits and starts and out of sync. Part of it is reintroducing Dalembert to the team. Part of is not settling on a rotation. Part of it is too much one on one basketball. The team, though, has been practicing for at least 6 weeks at this point and you'd think they'd be further along. Hopefully, they get it figured out. Really disappointing play the last two games, though.

RE: ORU @ JMU IN-GAME
I agree with what most have said on here. A couple other thoughts.

1. Dalembert and Cabarkapa are damn near unstoppable when the get the ball down low. We need to be playing inside - out. Early in the game, work the ball to them down low. We will pick of fouls on their bigs and their d will adjust by packing it in, opening up the 3 ball for curry and brown.

2. We are deep and it is actually hurting us a bit. Brady seems to want to spread the minutes around as the guys are so close in talent. I think we will see our play improve as we settle on a consistent rotation.

3. Because we are deep, it looks to me guys are pressing to make an impact with the minutes they do get. McLean, Grays and Morgan in particular.

4. Oral Roberts is not a terrible team. Because we don't know these teams, we tend to discount them.

5. Curry still doesn't appear to be 100% to me.

6. As Brown goes, as go the Dukes, thus far.

RE: ORU @ JMU IN-GAME
Agree they have not played their best the last two games. Starting with UR win and competitive game against WVU may have inflated their egos a bit. Poor free throw shooting could be their undoing in close games.

There is a lot of talent on this team. I feel like the loss yesterday was due more to missing shots(from the field and line) than anything else. They shot poorly against FIU too. I also agree that Kent should not be a starter against teams with real athletic guards. Matt has the ability to move his line up around based on the make up of the team he will be playing. He finally has the depth to do this.

The Dukes should win today. Redford next Monday is concerning. They are so athletic. Much like OSU but more so. I forget who we play Friday.

RE: ORU @ JMU IN-GAME
It's one thing if Dalembert being out messed with the front court rotation a little- Satkius had to play I get that- now that YoYo is back he shouldn't. The backcourt rotation issues are squarely on the shoulders of the coaches. There were no extenuating circumstances there- no suspensions, no ineligibility, no injuries- there were two new wing players to integrate (one you knew would play immediately in Brown the other a young freshman (Kangni) was going to be worked in gradually). The rest of the backcourt is the same from last years team, the same team that practiced and trained together all of last year and in the pre season. IMO you go into the season with a set lineup and rotation- these are college kids I'm not sure how well they respond to things being up in the there. Unless I'm missing something and Kent was lights out in practice or in the closed scrimmages he shouldn't have opened as a starter- Brown should have. I feel like Brady was surprised about the questions on Morgan- he shouldn't be- and he shouldn't be trying to find minutes for Morgan in season because the fans and media are asking about him. Morgan (who they used a scholarship on last year) should have a clear role on this years team going into the season.

Maybe it's me but I feel like the coaches underestimate the OOC portion of the schedule and always have- it's a warm up for the conference season- it's all about those 3 days in March for them. It's not the right tone - this team has a bunch of players returning and enough talent where the coaches should be ready from day 1 for them to compete and win every game that they play. Even though 90 times out of 100 a team from the CAA won't get an at large they should go in thinking that they will and that every game and win helps their RPI, the conference RPI and their seed when they go to the big dance in March. The tone from Brady around using early season games to learn about the team is kind of bs in my opinion- that's what the pre season is for- the lights are on- have a set game plan and rotation and win as many games as you can. Without a guaranteed year on his contract next year and having been a head coach for 12 years he should understand that- I'm all for patience and adjustments throughout the season and I believe that Brady is a good coach but I really differ with that general philosophy or any other where guys like Kent or Grays may go into this season with a role just because they had a role last season. The water level is higher that shouldn't matter.
